Jeffrey Immelt is the current chairman of the board and chief executive officer of General Electric. He was selected by GE's Board of Directors in 2000 to replace John Francis Welch Jr. (Jack Welch) following his retirement. Previously, Immelt had headed GE's Medical Systems division (now GE Healthcare) as its President and CEO. He has been with GE since 1982 and is on the board of two non-profit organizations.

His tenure as the Chairman and CEO started at a time of crisis — he took over the role on September 7, 2001[10] four days before the terrorist attacks on the United States, which killed two employees and cost GE's insurance business $600 million — as well as having a direct effect on the company's Aircraft Engines sector. Immelt has also been selected as one of President Obama's financial advisors concerning the economic rescue plan

So tell me again that this bill is not a tax bill to enrich enviro-business ? All you have to do is read a little to know that!! G.E. has their hands so deep in this as do other people and there is a LOT of money riding on this make no mistake. This has absolutly NOTHING to do with the environment and everything to do with money!!

Hi Woodjack

Hello first of all if cap and trade does finally pass the senate, EPA and the Obama Admin said that it will only raise energy rates by $100.00-$200.00 for the average household. Are they talking monthly or yearly? They did not say whether it was monthly or yearly guess they were hoping nobody read between the lines.

Washington D.C. is filled with two kinds of people: Liars and damned liars. Never believe anything coming from Obama. This Cap and Tax Fiasco is all about raising the price of goods and services inside the USA, so JOBS are shipped overseas to areas where no Cap and Tax stupidity exists. The price to manufacture anything inside the USA will double, then double again, because everyone in the pipeline will pass higher costs to next guy and ultimately to you the consumer. Obama has no idea how much this Cap and Tax stupidity will cost, because he does not give a crap one way or the other. He is driving the U.S. Economy over the cliff going 500 miles per hour and Cap and Tax represents a high-octane way of doing the job more efficiently. The same goes for ObamaCare and all of his tax inititives (story) that place heavy burdens on U.S. Employers and Citizens that We The People simply cannot bear. Therefore, the actual raising of your electric bill is only one small percentage of the real cost that will eventually escalate completely out of control.

And here is another question. If cap and trade passes can grocery stores and other stores afford to operate 24 hours a day? or will they have to close down in order to conserve their electricty? will this bill be an inconvience bill? closing stores down to conserve electricty would of course put people out of work that work during those hours in those stores or am I wrong?

The grocers will raise prices and pass the higher costs onto you the customer, until a higher and higher percentage of your paycheck (if you have one) is spent on food. The price of fuel will go through the roof and prices of everything else will skyrocket too, and that is if the U.S. Economy avoids catastrophic collapse between now and when this Cap and Tax BS is implemented. The funny part of all this Cap and Tax BS is that people need oxygen and plant life needs carbon dioxide, so planting more trees would do more to solve this supposed problem than taxing Americans . . .

and not to mention if private sector housing electricity rates go up....what about a grocery store since refrigerators use tons of electricity hmmm so they will have to sell items for alot more ...soo in essence yes your electricty rates will go up but so will your weekly grocery bill....wait I guess there is always fastfood...=) oops I forgot...Obama has already put in for a fast food tax to...

The point is that the price of everything will go up, while the dollar is collapsing and prices must go up even without Cap and Tax and ObamaCare and everything else. The only way to make sense of this MADNESS is that Obama (like Bush) is destroying the USA on purpose . . .

since Obama seems to have all the answers ...for instance his shovel ready projects for the stimulas bill to add/create 2 million construction jobs....oh now it has changed to save 2 million construction jobs......oops Obama forgot to mention that the states hardest hit by the recession are in the north, michigan pennsylvania ohio wisconsin.........and construction cannot be done in the winter time....so it has changed again to save 2 million temporary/seasonal jobs....=)

Obama has no answers. He is a rock star that smiles a lot during campaign speeches without much going on between the ears. He is just another New World Order puppet like George Bush 1 and Billary Clinton and George Bush 2, so the song remains very much the same.

Can anyone help and answer my questions? Or am I totally offbase?

Sure. Individual tax revenues fell 44 percent in April 2009 to $137 billion, compared to $244 billion in April 2008 (story). Here the economy is CRASHING and tax revenues are going south, but Senor Obama thinks this a great time to place all of these burdens on We The People losing 10,000 homes to foreclosure EVERY DAMNED DAY. About 20,000 people lose their JOBS every day, but Senor Obama is ready to raise the price of energy and healthcare and food. No. Obama is the one off base . . . WAY off base. But We The Sheeple keep buying his BS hook, line and sinker . . .

Where are your facts faggot ?

I'll give you two:

1) OBAMA ADMITTED electricity costs will SKYROCKET under cap and trade.

2) Since your clown ass loves to bring up Iraq so much, now Obama is taking CREDIT for the SUCCESS in Iraq when he was one of the main needledicks OPPOSED to the surge. Gotta love you asshole dems .......:lol::eusa_whistle:

Oh so now you believe everything Obama says? Usually you call him a liar.

See, a perfect example of a right wing fool who doesn't know any facts beyond "the surge worked".

Did they change any other tactics?

Was it the surge alone or maybe did we pay off local militia's for a truce too?

Is the truce over or will the truce last forever?

How about political reconciliation?

Which group killed 4 US soldiers the other day? Sunni, shiite, al queda, kurds, were they Iranian?

You don't know dick.

yes usually when the moron is off the teleprompter, he says some things like that.

And like the redistribution of wealth comment.

So tell us lib. Do you want him redistributing your wealth?
And don't bother telling me that yes, you are ok with it. We all know that libs are selfish pricks.

Don't ask if you don't want to know.

And let us take 1000 average Americans and explain to them that either they will pay for it or the top 10% can take $100K out of each of their $20 million dollar salaries and that can pay for it, and most Americans will decide that the rich Americans should pay.

It is called a progressive tax. We already have that in America. It was just a little more progressive under clinton.

And even the dumbest of Republicans knows that you don't give tax breaks when spending $10 billion a month on wars for 5 years straight.

But now they claim if we take back the tax breaks we should have never even given, that it will cause problems. BULLSHIT!

And next year they'll warn that if we let them expire, as they were intended to do, that it too will cause problems. Cost jobs, small business', etc. See the pattern? Lame old argument over and over and over.

Fine, the rich own your ass stupid.

I'm going to tell you I'm a Republican and then tell you my gizz is chocolate because apparently you'll swallow anything the GOP says.

Do you mind if we have one? You have Fox so why can't we have MSNBC.

Don't call CNN or any others liberal because it just makes you look stupid and one sided. Just call the rest the mainstream/corporate/driveby media.

sealy, the fact is though in this bill the top 10% of tax payers are not the only ones who will pay for this. EVERYONE will pay for it. In the form of higher value added taxes on goods and services. It won't matter if your a billionare or don't have a job if you use any good or service that requires energy you will pay for this bill. The facts are that by doing so in an economic down cycle it will further hurt people that are already hurting. I have presented you with overwhelming facts to support this and not all of them from anything remotly what you would consider to be right-wing sources. Seriously sealy this is a bill that is just bad policy no matter who it is that puts it up.

There ya go sealybozo......

Thanks Navy, i had neither the time or inclination to spell it out for this clown again ...

So, the cap and trade, if passed by the senate, will not allow you to sell your house unless you upgrade to the current government standards? I am an old man, and will die soon. I have a house that my son will inherit. Will he have to upgrade to government standards before he can sell it? Where is the grandfather clause?

Who knows that the Senate bill's final form will have Soaring, but your correct, in order for your home to be sold should this bill pass it must meet the new standards set down in the bill. If it doesn't you will have to bring the home up to the environmental standards in order to get a permit i.e. environemntal inspection in order to sell it.

“The Administrator shall develop and implement, in consultation with the Secretary of Energy, standards for a national energy and environmental building retrofit policy for single-family and multi-family residences,” the bill reads.

It continues: “The purpose of the REEP program is to facilitate the retrofitting of existing buildings across the United States.”

The bill leaves the definition of a retrofit and the details of the REEP program up to the EPA. However, states are responsible for ensuring that the government’s plans are carried out, whatever the final details may entail.

“States shall maintain responsibility for meeting the standards and requirements of the REEP program,” the bill says.

Sealy you can only soak the rich to the point they are willing to let you. Britain tried that crap pre Thatcher and found out that what happens is your best and britghtest take up residence elsewhere. It's even eaiser this day and age to run your US company from some man made island off the coast of Dubai or an office tower in Hong Kong - funny how office space in Hong Kong that was falling like a rock is suddenly rebounding big time isn't it? - You leftist idiots never seem to get it the rich aren't compelled to live here. And they can always find ways around your connivining theiving schemes.

Wow.. midcan linking to more left wing sites in support of a left wing want... color me surprised... not

Find one flaw in the details before you go trashing the source.

When I find right wing drivel, I point out the spin.

Details buddy. Either that or :eusa_shhh:

If this was such a damn good idea why has the UN come out and state in writing this push is for redistribution?

Then why did Spain have to have the program euthanized?

in short WJ, under cap and tax the price of everything (and I do mean everything) that uses any type of fossil fuel derived energy in its production and distribution will rise considerably.

We shall see. I wouldn't take your word for it though. You are a fear mongerer.

I emailed Obama yesterday that he/they have done a horrible job selling Cap and Trade to America. Seems more like they rushed it thru over the holidays and the righties are saying that its going to cost each person $1500. The Dems have the majorities now, so the media has to listen to them and report what they say. Why are they not denying the rumors, if they are rumors?

But this may be just another lie from the right. I hope so. Then they'll have even less credibility, if that is even possible.

I don't think Republicans will ever change. They just hope/wait for the Dems to fuck up and thats how they win. It isn't like the GOP learned their lesson and now will act better. Instead they stick to their guns, insist tax breaks work and continue to say Dems raised taxes, even if they didn't.

And the bankers spent $9 trillion in the last 8 months, starting on Bush's watch skull. $9 trillion!!! You're bitching about $700 bill tarp and $700 stimulus and not $9 trillion? Oldest trick in the book. Distract you with the left and steal with the right. And then in 4 years you'll say Obama doubled the debt, when in fact the bankers did it, and they did it half on Bush's watch and half on Obama's, but you'll say it was Obama, I'll say it was Bush, and the bankers will still own all of us and all of this.

Voters are morons.

How about the media do it's damn job instead of parotting Obama's talking points? How about a little investigative journalism instead of falling all over themselves to see who can kiss his ass longest?

And yeah, liberal voters are morons. They voted for a useless snakeoil salesman without knowing anything except he had a D after his name.

You asked if I''m always like this in another post. Well, seems its not the first time we have talked. I read thru some of your past posts and you seem to

A. Lean right

And

B. Like Palin

So really, how smart can you actually be?

Cap n Tax will be among the most destructive agents against the United States in modern times.

Cap n Trade is and I repeat is, nothing but a TAX on energy to pass along to annointed businesses that are in the so called environmental norm. The people that are paying for this scheme are the taxpayers themselves and what really makes me laugh about this a lot is daily I see democrats in congress complaining about the evil companies taking advantage of the poor middle class and then in the next breath support this bill which is supported by those same evil companies.
