Opps I stand corrected by the facts, I thought Reagan left a budget surplus.

He did not.

Brown rebalenced the budget even in light of prop 13

place is a shithole......best thing that can happen to that state is the BIG ONE hit and the whole damn state fall into the H2O. Nobody would care............all California is = a leetch to the rest of the country.

Technically each earthquake raises the level of California, San Gabriel mountains north of Los Angeles rise 2"s a year.

I agree with you sentiment.

I see truthmatters acknowledged budget surplus after Prop 13, just in case though;

Budget Surplus and the Economy

Budget Surplus and the Economy
By Larry McCarthy
For the fourth straight year, California is blessed with a multibillion-dollar budget surplus and, over the next few weeks, Governor Gray Davis and the Legislature will decide how the windfall will be used. Taxpayers prefer investment in the economy and infrastructure, not a spending spree.

According to Governor Davis' $80.8 billion "May Revise" of the 1999-2000 budget proposal, high levels of revenues are still flowing into the state treasury. Since proposing a $77.5 billion budget last January, the economic picture has improved so much that, through June 2000, the state expects more than $4.3 billion of additional revenue. About half of that is deemed ongoing in nature

There is no such thing as a "Liberal Paradise." And there never will be. All areas of the country controlled by Liberals/Socialists/Progressives have become awful Third World Hellholes. That's just fact. California's glory days are long long gone. They will never fully recover. The Socialist/Progressive Democrats have destroyed them. It is very sad.

(D)Governor Gray Davis should be in Prison for what he did to California. How he didn't get his orange jumpsuit i'll never know. Nothing has been the same in California since Davis. Things will only get worse out there unfortunately. They really do love their incompetent Socialists/Progressives out there. Their slide into Third World Misery will continue.

Enron, alone, bilked 30+ billion dollars out of California in 2000 and 2001. Maybe your hero CEO's can get together and give it back to them. Wait, why would they do that? There's no profit in that...

(D)Governor Gray Davis should be in Prison for what he did to California.

What, for trying to stop what Enron was doing? Shrub refused to smack them down and place a price cap on them when they were bilking billions out of California, so he is as much at fault. See, this is what happens when you let corporations talk you into deregulation for their benefit. Everyone suffers but the CEO.

what appears to be clear is by the time Arnold took over in earnest and his big referendum went down, ( 05) it was getting very very hairy, the 2000's are full of gimmicks; bond measures, lottery cash and tobacco money that was not used for what it was intended and the rest. All it takes is a few years of a downturn and idiocy and its over. And this does not include the pension money that we have not been funding either.
