This is an example of how two people of different ideologies(1 Fiscal conservative/Budget Hawk, the other a Democratic Socialist) are able to communicate their ideas and even agrees to re-examine issues.

This era is marked by both a mode of civility(brought over from the Reagan Era) and nasty politics(Newt Gingrich-led shutdown of government, Clinton Infidelity, and party rebellions!). However, our elected representatives got things done.
This leads to the question, do you think it is possible to return to the Regan Era of civility in Government(Don't get me wrong. The politics was ruthless during Reagan time. But they did know where to draw the line)? Or are we in a new age of take no prisoners, your ally is your enemy, only traitors hug/compromise with the opposition politics the new normal. I tend to think we are in a new age of politics that is about to spiral out of control.
If you think about it, both parties are able to accomplish their goals through some level of civility, Do you see a nominee that is running that can return national politics back to 'Reagan Civility'? I currently don't see one, but hope that I am wrong.
