Bill Maher Gets Owned

I haven't seen the Koch bros. preaching about being green, like Gore. Gore only changed his home to green when it was exposed that Bush had a more green home structure than Gore did, along with the amount of energy it took to support his property. It did make Gore look bad.

Gore only made his home green when the code laws allowed him to. He'd been trying to the whole time.

How fucked up that someone would have to seek a zoning change to install solar panels. One would have to wonder what agenda would be behind the prohibition of such. :eusa_doh:

Barb, I'm sure there are links to back up what you stated, but, I'm not buying his excuse. His electric bills were posted years ago, he could have cut back on the huge amount of electricity he used, but he didn't.
Kreider, June 16: The Gores’ home is certified by the US Green Building Council as a Gold LEED certified home for retrofitted homes. As part of the LEED certification process, they upgraded their windows, lighting, appliances and insulation, among other items in and around the home [...] The residence is powered with a geothermal system as well as 33-solar panels. The Gores also participate in the "Green PowerSwitch" program offered by their utility [company].

More and better public transportation? HELL yes!

Public transportation for the most part has been a money hole for cities and counties, not to mention the federal AMTRAK. How can it be made better and be cost effective where people will be willing to give up their vehicles?

People don't give up their vehicles, they drive them less. Park and ride. If they're NEAR enough, they don't drive to the stop, but it's still an overall savings. How can you say its not?

Barb, the Park and Rides are a losing entity...except maybe in Seattle and Frisco. Some may carpool, but for the most part people drive themselves, that's not going to change.....unless you have the government step in and take away peoples rights.
With this administration, anything can happen....and I do mean ANYTHING....and that scares me.

You might want to go back and reread what I posted before you keep spamming this, PJ.

When cons run out of answers, or just can't answer, they just resort to "why don't you move there".

You don't have to move, PJ, just give up you and your families vehicles in the name of conservation. No? You lead the way for America....the journey begins with that first step. :eusa_whistle:

You first. Build your own plumbing, pipes to clean water, your own septic system, figure out your own electricity, enforce your own contracts, protect your own property, drive your own code blue ass to the hospital, don't get mad if they don't take you, educate your children, figure out for your damned self if your meds are safe, don't EVER eat at a restaurant (you should take your chances the dishwasher doesn't have hep C, it shouldn't be guaranteed), and blaze your and your customer's own trail to your place of work / business.
:eusa_silenced:

Not me, Barb....I'm not on the green kick and I don't intend to be either. I will use as much energy as I want, because I can and pay for whatever I use with a smile. I'm not going to go around and preach green to anybody either, Barb.
Speaking of meds, Barb....might want to get back on the ones your taking because that's quite a rant about a post I made to political junky

That is copied from your post. Obviously he did cut back drastically on his electricity used.

Oh for fuck sakes.

Finances dictate, and it isn't the government that charges up to the nth degree what the market will BEAR for inelastic needs. In response, people will do whatever they must to save money and have enough left to pay the orthodontist.

PEOPLE, actual people, pay the price for deregulation and lax regulation of those (corporations are NOT people) that (as opposed to who) actually bleed the public like the parasitic ticks that they are.

THIS is the disconnect between cause and effect we're arguing about, and it REALLY isn't that complicated once you stop and THINK about finances instead of some really questionable and contrived shared resentments.

I must be on another planet because I have no idea what you're talking about.
I thought we were talking about Park and Rides vs private vehicles.
Bottom line is most of America are not onboard with Park and Rides and would rather drive themselves.
Connecting the dots, in most major cities public transportation is a losing proposition for the city or county, just like AMTRAK has been a bust for the government since day one.
That's all I'm arguing about.

Nobody was "speaking of meds" except where they're regulated, or not. This is a political forum. Rant is kind of the coin of trade here. What an ass you are to expect to post some bullshit and NOT expect a response.

You know exactly what I'm talking about. You aren't stupid.

As for park and rides, or WALK and rides, people simply need to get to work. Advocating against them makes it harder for the most vulnerable amongst us to do so. Is that what you want to be doing? That would be scum buggery in its lowest form. I thought better of you.

Please share with the rest of the class how self sufficiency is off topic in response to post advocating, however disingenuously, self sufficiency.

In this day and age where Stockton, Ca. and other cities have or are close to filing bankruptcies, they can't afford losing propositions in their budgets, that IS what I'm saying. Liberals just think that there is no end to funding the dollars. You may not like what I say, but it's the damn truth, somewhere, some way people had better start to figure it out and not rely on local or federal giverments to fix things for them. Buy a damn bike and get to work for all I care. I really could care less what you think of me, Barb. I'm just looking where this country is going and looking to the future with the results of what we are doing to it today. Liberals have a pie in the sky attitude and it pisses me off to no end.

No, no it's not bullshit, Barb. You have zero credibilty for moving the truth, like so many liberals do.

There is X amount of dollars. The question is where it should be spent. You think I may be a socialist. You might be right, but I think there's a better solution than the zero sum game that you propose, and I happen to think that WHAT you propose is reprehensible.

Eh?

Brazil... Population: 196 million. Uses about 2.5 billion barrels a day of oil
United States: 310 billion. Uses about 18.5 billion barrels a day of oil

Now... that's just quick numbers. It could very well be true that Bill Maher was "owned" as it were. But just saying it and looking at the general numbers suggests that whatever Brazil is doing is... Working. o.0

If Brazil didn't use any ethanol, all other things being equal, they'd be consuming only about 3 billion barrels of oil a day. What you call "working" is being a shithole country where people can't afford to drive and have no place to drive to. Haiti uses even less oil. Do you think those worthless animals, dumb afros, who run Haiti are doing a better job?

Brazil was shafting itself with its focus on ethanol up until the last decade, when oil prices became so high.

So do midwest pubs...and Maher wasn't owned.

Maher wasn't owned...he's just a typical liberal that can't find his own ass in the dark...so he lies about it and says he can.

Exactly where did Maher lie?

Exactly when he claimed Brazil was oil dependency free...that about 30 years ago they "had a program to become oil free and went to sugarcane ethanol for their gasoline needs".

And George Will called him on it and mentioned that they are still reliant on oil and even have off-shore drilling to support some of their needs.

If you're a socialist, yes, you would feel that way towards me, and to be honest.....I'm proud of that. The question isn't where it should be spent any longer, that ship has left the port. You wanting to take this great nation down I find to be reprehensible. Sixteen trillion in debt and counting? Several states leaning toward bankruptcies.....and there you are wanting more, and wanting my money to do it. I don't mind paying for my fair share, but, I don't want to pay for your fair share either.

Fuck you. Your money, for the most of it, is paid to the military industrial complex and corporate welfare. The infinitesimal amount spent on programs for the poor amounts to what is taken from the general fund for pizza.
