Bill Maher Gets Owned

Public transportation for the most part has been a money hole for cities and counties, not to mention the federal AMTRAK. How can it be made better and be cost effective where people will be willing to give up their vehicles?

People don't give up their vehicles, they drive them less. Park and ride. If they're NEAR enough, they don't drive to the stop, but it's still an overall savings. How can you say its not?

Barb, the Park and Rides are a losing entity...except maybe in Seattle and Frisco. Some may carpool, but for the most part people drive themselves, that's not going to change.....unless you have the government step in and take away peoples rights.
With this administration, anything can happen....and I do mean ANYTHING....and that scares me.

I tried car pooling. Another guy and myself alternated weekly. Then he took a day off from work, when it was HIS week to drive. Then he did it again. And again.

So much for car pools.

That post damaged your already shaky credibility.
Ok.

But, at least you had the decency to apologize.
*laughs* I didn't apologize. I thanked someone for correcting one of my mistakes. Apology != Appreciation

You're one of those idiots who thinks Obama apologized too aren't you?

I called you decent, so in return you call me idiot.
You called me decent for doing something I didn't do. How am I supposed to take that as a compliment?

I asked a question. If you believe that Obama apologized then yes... I called you an idiot.

You are a liberal, aren't you?
I am whatever you think I am.

You don't have to move, PJ, just give up you and your families vehicles in the name of conservation. No? You lead the way for America....the journey begins with that first step. :eusa_whistle:

You first. Build your own plumbing, pipes to clean water, your own septic system, figure out your own electricity, enforce your own contracts, protect your own property, drive your own code blue ass to the hospital, don't get mad if they don't take you, educate your children, figure out for your damned self if your meds are safe, don't EVER eat at a restaurant (you should take your chances the dishwasher doesn't have hep C, it shouldn't be guaranteed), and blaze your and your customer's own trail to your place of work / business.
:eusa_silenced:

Not me, Barb....I'm not on the green kick and I don't intend to be either. I will use as much energy as I want, because I can and pay for whatever I use with a smile. I'm not going to go around and preach green to anybody either, Barb.
Speaking of meds, Barb....might want to get back on the ones your taking because that's quite a rant about a post I made to political junky

I am with you on that, Meister.

I made the improvements on my home (windows, weather stripping, more efficient hot water heater, furnace, etc...) because it saves me money.

I am told by the GREENIES that - on the one hand - I am no more significant than a worm, but - on the other hand - my actions can alter the world. These same worthies are also ardent Darwinists, but they don't believe in their pet theory of the survival of the fittest when it comes to my money to rescue (financially) those are not as fit as me.

They worship Al Gore but despise Mitt Romney, in spite the fact that both Gore's and Romney's homes are equally grandiose.

You know exactly what I'm talking about. You aren't stupid.

As for park and rides, or WALK and rides, people simply need to get to work. Advocating against them makes it harder for the most vulnerable amongst us to do so. Is that what you want to be doing? That would be scum buggery in its lowest form. I thought better of you.

In this day and age where Stockton, Ca. and other cities have or are close to filing bankruptcies, they can't afford losing propositions in their budgets, that IS what I'm saying. Liberals just think that there is not end to funding the dollars. You may not like what I say, but it's the damn truth, somewhere, some way people had better start to figure it out and not rely on local or federal giverments to fix things for them. Buy a damn bike and get to work for all I care. I really could care less what you think of me, Barb. I'm just looking where this country is going and looking to the future with the results of what we are doing to it today. Liberals have a pie in the sky attitude and it pisses me off to no end.

There is X amount of dollars. The question is where it should be spent. You think I may be a socialist. You might be right, but I think there's a better solution than the zero sum game that you propose, and I happen to think that WHAT you propose is reprehensible.

I have been following the discussion between you and Meister with great interest.

At this point I felt I needed to step in with my two cents' worth.

When it comes to zero sum game it is exactly the liberals/socialists/Democrats who think that the pie only that big, and when one prospers it is always at the expense of somebody else.

Conservatives like myself (and let me take the liberty assuming, Meister) think - Hell KNOW - that that is not the case. Given the chance hard work, effort and desire ALWAYS produce more wealth and more prosperity.

Barb, correct me if I am wrong.

If you're a socialist, yes, you would feel that way towards me, and to be honest.....I'm proud of that. The question isn't where it should be spent any longer, that ship has left the port. You wanting to take this great nation down I find to be reprehensible. Sixteen trillion in debt and counting? Several states leaning toward bankruptcies.....and there you are wanting more, and wanting my money to do it. I don't mind paying for my fair share, but, I don't want to pay for your fair share either.

Fuck you. Your money, for the most of it, is paid to the military industrial complex and corporate welfare. The infinitesimal amount spent on programs for the poor amounts to what is taken from the general fund for pizza.

Another poster, earlier, said that when there is no valid argument left, the loser has to resort to advise the winner to move somewhere else. (Or words to that effect).

The better and absolutely foolproof measure of a loser is when he/she starts using vulgar profanities.

When it comes to being a loser, Barb, you are a winner!

Eh?

Brazil... Population: 196 million. Uses about 2.5 billion barrels a day of oil
United States: 310 billion. Uses about 18.5 billion barrels a day of oil

Now... that's just quick numbers. It could very well be true that Bill Maher was "owned" as it were. But just saying it and looking at the general numbers suggests that whatever Brazil is doing is... Working. o.0
all those figures should be millions, not billions. But yes - Brazil is doing a lot of things right. Their politicians put the country ahead of their individual parties, and they do not deny science.

Since most of Brazil still lives in the Stone Age they don't even have an idea about science.
We have those on the right, here in the US, who actively work against science. It shouldn't take long to reduce us to a third world nation.

I agree, Obama is working feverishly on it. :eusa_whistle:

Then the United States would have achieved the exalted state in which Maher (and perhaps, you) hold Brazil.

Mass poverty is your conception of "working?"

Brazil uses much less oil because few people can afford to buy a car.

Bill Maher prepares for TV by watching msnbc and reading the LA Times for about a week prior, then he thinks he has a PhD.

Brazil is the world's second largest producer of ethanol fuel, and until 2010, the world's largest exporter. Together, Brazil and the United States lead the industrial production of ethanol fuel, accounting together for 87.8 percent of the world's production in 2010,[1][2] and 87.1 percent in 2011.[3] In 2011 Brazil produced 21.1 billion liters (5.57 billion U.S. liquid gallons), representing 24.9 percent of the world's total ethanol used as fuel.[3]

Brazil is considered to have the world's first sustainable biofuels economy and the biofuel industry leader,[4][5][6][7] a policy model for other countries; and its sugarcane ethanol "the most successful alternative fuel to date."[

Another example of the idiot liberal dumbocrat at their absolute dumbest.

On one hand, the idiot liberal dumbocrat cries a river for the "hungry". On the other hand, the idiot liberal dumbocrat burns the world's food supply to "save" the Earth.

God, these people are so fucking ignorant, it's actually painful to just hear them spew their stupidity. I actually feel physical pain listening to people so fucking stupid, that they burn the world's food supply while crying about people being hungry.

At least they're using sugar cane (not a requirement in any diet, and damaging to many) instead of FEED GRAIN like we are, making it more expensive to feed every type of livestock, and for that livestock to be more expensive to the consumer.

Better if everyone switched to using hemp for ethanol. Less turnaround time between crops, and MUCH lower ecologic impact in processing.

But hell, we couldn't admit Hearst was a racist, or that the followers of Ayn Rand were closet trade protectionists. :eusa_whistle:

Shhhh. Republicans think white sugar IS the worlds "food supply".

Not only that, a good 60 percent of Brazil is jungle and the rest of the country is not much better, except the big coastal cities of Rio and Sao Paulo and those are where the poverty is rampant.

2010? FUCKING SERIOUSLY?

What went through your head?

"Oh I hate bill maher SO MUCH! What can I find about him that makes me feel better? Well, after a couple of hours of searching I found something from 2010 and am going to post it like it matters at all."

Also, in which way was Bill Maher owned here? By the other dude giving his opinion as well?

If you actually look at what Brazil has accomplished with it's ethanol market, it's quite substantial for them, especially compared to the 80% they imported back in the 70's.

Do people on this board have the slightest concept of what a billion is? Do you know that very few people will live 2 billion SECONDS in their entire life? You would have to reach 90 years of age to reach 2.8 billion SECONDS in a lifetime.

FUCKING HILARIOUS!!

Prove she's a Republican.

Oh, wait -- you can't do that.

But then, you have a habit of lying.

How can you defend someone who says "Brazil got OFF oil" and then give a stat that shows Brazil is using 2.5 BILLION barrels per DAY?

Do people on this board have the slightest concept of what a billion is? Do you know that very few people will live 2 billion SECONDS in their entire life? You would have to reach 90 years of age to reach 2.8 billion SECONDS in a lifetime.

If you're utilizing 2.5 billion barrels of oil per day, you are consuming an obnoxious amount of oil and are about 4.6 million years from being "OFF of oil". You're not even in the ballpark of oil independence, and it's a stupid fucking comment for anyone to claim they are or that they are even "headed in the right direction".

Finally, Brazil (like all of South America) is essentially a 3rd world country shit-hole in which many in the population can't even afford an automobile. So many use motorcycles, scooters, and bicycles to get around. Which of course drastically cuts down on oil, but is far from a "success" story. Only the idiot liberal dumbocrat would consider poverty resulting in less oil sales a "success".
Yeah... I screwed up... Thanked the guy for correcting me and then moved on.

Um... You can stick with that if you like... but... It seems self defeating once I've admitted I fucked up... o.0

For the record, in order to live two billion seconds, you only have to make it to be 63 years and 122 days old. If you were born on the morning of January 1st, and assuming that when you turn 63 it's a non-leap year, you'd surpass 2 billion seconds on May 2nd, a little more than 8 hours after your time of birth.
