AOC Is One Election Away From Controlling the Committee in Charge of Oil and Gas Drilling on Public Lands

She's a Dimocrat, so she'll do what all Dimocrats do. She'll demonize the oil industry, and work towards killing the industry off.

AOC is the one your mother warned you about. The stupid people who voted for her don't see how dangerous she is. She's already a tyrant. Stupid and corrupt is a bad combination.

The nation is being dumbed down in that people with greater abilities are pushed into a slimmer way of competition due to equity hires. And more than that to push equity, potential people with abilities are not even getting a chance and are condemned to less in life. It is actually like the old African American commercial. "A mind is a terrible thing to waste.' Only it is white males. White males who have created most of the easiest ways of living in human history along with the propaganda teaching people they are the worse humans for tens of millions of years. Notice how expensive many technical and industrial hardware things are getting. Even before the Prog inflation started. For the totalitarian state to exist fully, most of the smarter people or the potential of smarter people will need to be neutered.

A true America hating Marxist in such a position would do so much damage to our economy.

She's another nutter who thinks you can run a grid off wind and solar and battery backup. Battery backup that would give an hour or so and cost hundreds of billions of dollars for the little good they'd do.

Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who led the charge for progressives’ once-fringe Green New Deal, is now just one election away from chairing the House subcommittee responsible for overseeing America’s oil and gas drilling on public lands, E&E News reported Tuesday.
Ocasio-Cortez currently serves as the ranking member of the Energy and Mineral Resources Subcommittee, establishing her as a prime candidate to head the committee and take steps to advance a progressive climate agenda in the event Democrats take control of the House, according to E&E News. The New York congresswoman recently reintroduced the Green New Deal — which has been harshly criticized as radical and expensive by Republicans since she first introduced it in 2019 — as progressive allies Rep. Ro Khanna of California and Sen. Edward Markey of Massachusetts introduced an accompanying health care package, dubbed the Green New Deal for Health.
“A lot of our victories have already begun, for example, by breaking off some of the pieces [of the Green New Deal] and incorporating it in different areas of must-pass legislation including the Inflation Reduction Act,” Ocasio-Cortez told the outlet. Her office, alongside that of Democratic Sen. Ed Markey of Massachusetts, maintains an ongoing document that tracks the ways in which the Inflation Reduction Act and Bipartisan Infrastructure Law have implemented core tenets of the Green New Deal.
Thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act, President Joe Biden’s signature climate law, the U.S. is expected to undergo a significant drawdown in coal-fired power even as China continues to aggressively bring new coal plants online. Analysts at Goldman Sachs now estimate that the bill will cost roughly $1.2 trillion in subsidies for green energy projects over the next ten years, more than three times the government’s initial estimated cost of $370 billion.
Rep. Jamaal Bowman of New York — the ranking member of the House Science, Space and Technology Subcommittee — told the outlet that he never believed that what was once a fringe element in the Democratic Party “would ever become inside-baseball people.” A Democratic takeover of the House in 2024 would see Bowman, as well as other climate-focused progressives like Rep. Cori Bush of Missouri and Khanna, in high-ranking positions alongside Ocasio-Cortez, E&E News reported.
“The key to Congress is you just have to win, and then you have to stick around a bit,” Khanna, the former chair of the House Oversight and Reform Subcommittee on the Environment, told E&E News. “And the more progressive classes we get, and the more progressives stick it out in the House, the more power we’ll build.”
If she chaired the Energy and Mineral Resources Subcommittee, Ocasio-Cortez would have oversight powers over energy production, mining and drilling on federal lands. The Biden administration has in recent months taken sweeping action to block mining and drilling projects, while simultaneously encouraging conservation efforts on federal lands.

I stopped reading after the words “American hating Marxist” because she doesn’t hate the USA and she’s not a Marxist.

If the USA had started working on climate change when Reagan started his whole cult of denialism, we all would be better off both economically and environmentally.

I just find it hard to get my head around that she's the ranking anything on a committee.....Dems are a fuckin' disaster......I mean what reasonably competent political party would even put a person of her caliber in such a position?

The bottom is out of the bucket.

Agree. That commie dingbat's not qualified to lead a lunch line...

That would be a major improvement to the committee and our country.

God help us with these idiots in congress

A military is always hopelessly tied to petroleum addiction.

'To avoid the need for more military involvement in the Middle East, the US reduced its net oil imports from 11.1 million barrels daily to just 2.3 million, with only 16 percent of that latter figure coming from the Persian Gulf.

Building on those gains, America became a net oil exporter for the first time in 70 years, thanks in part to the proliferation of fracking across America. By the end of Obama's term, the US economy no longer needed the Middle East.'
(McCoy, To Govern the Globe: World Orders and Catastrophic Change, p. 247)

Good. Those public lands belong to me. If they want to drill on them, I want 50% of everything they produce.

Or they can get off my property, and pay to fix anything they messed up.

That clear enough for you moocher?

You talk as if you are one of tough SOB's. You, you're just another Prog Chihuahua.

👍great thread.

If the USA had started working on climate change when Reagan started his whole cult of denialism, we all would be better off both economically and environmentally.

No, we would have been fully surpassed economically and militarily by other countries that weren’t so naive. It is the same thing that will happen today if we don’t slow down the climate wacko crazy train that has lost all tough with reality.

PS: Even if we assume that AGW is true(no proven), the US isn’t even close to the biggest contributor and the biggest polluters only care as far as the money will take them. When the realize it isn’t profitable, they will burn fossil fuels exclusively. Large governments like China talk a big game in public about global warming and their efforts to mitigate it, but behind closed doors they know it is nothing but a money grab and are willing to play a long to a point.

You do get paid back for that you stupid shit in the form of lower energy costs. Go to a European country and see how much it a tank of gas costs. How about the security of not having to heavily rely on oil from nations that hate us.
