J.D. Vance plans to put holds on all Justice Department nominees, slowing the confirmation process amid Donald Trump's federal indictment.

What's happening: Sen. J.D. Vance is seeking some modicum of revenge for the second indictment of former President Donald Trump. And he'll make his move on the Senate floor.
Details: The Ohio Republican is going to put holds on all nominees to the Department of Justice. That means all nominees will require procedural votes and confirmation votes; any one senator can slow down nominees, but a simple majority is required both for a procedural vote and final confirmation.
ā€œIf Merrick Garland wants to use these officials to harass Joe Bidenā€™s political opponents, we will grind his department to a halt," he said in a statement.

MAGA Promises Tit For Tat ā€˜Retributionā€™

One of the big arguments from the center right, and GOP presidential candidates, in response to the Trump indictment has been that itā€™s going to make prosecutions of politicians a regular feature of American politics.

Itā€™s an argument that doesnā€™t address the reality weā€™re in: well-documented allegations of unopposed lawbreaking by a President for years and years, or the consequences of impunity for the powers.

It also falls just short of being a threat: weā€™re going to prosecute Democratic politicians once weā€™re in power. To be clear, thatā€™s not a bad thing in itself: the powerful should be prosecuted if theyā€™re found to have committed crimes, regardless of political party.

But some of Trumpā€™s MAGA cohorts take it way further, promising ā€œretributionā€ once back in office.

MAGA Threats Mass Around Mar-a-Lago Miami Hearing

I suspect there will be more flailing, ineffectual, juvenile attempts on the part of congressional nitwits to prove their fidelity to Dear Leader to The Following.

That is what they are doing to get Trump off? What a joke!:auiqs.jpg: A childish one, at that, but whatever. The charges are file. Trump will face trial for what he has done, even if disgruntle MAGA nutballs choose to disrupt the government. This is an example of why MAGA candidates should not be elected.

Thanks for such a fun post.

This won't impact the outcome of the case at all. This is really the problem too often in politics. He shouldn't be looking for revenge, but rather he should oversee and demand fairness and blind justice. If this is violated, he has a serious position to fight from. Americans are already skeptical. Is the septicism valid? Time will tell.

Another example of the rightā€™s contempt for sound, responsible governance, our democratic institutions, and the will of the people.

Democrat nutballs choose to disrupt the government. This is an example of why Democrat candidates should not be elected. There I fixed it for you. Feel free to bury your head in the sand now. That's where it has been for the past seven years or you would have complained about the democrats doing the exact same thing as Vance is suggesting.

The government has been going right along, even the Republican House supported the compromise debt ceiling deal, Biden's people worked you. Obviously the courts are working. Donny was in court for his crimes today, and it sound like DOJ may have a solid case. More J6 attackers are being sentenced weekly if not daily for their crimes.

He's pissed that Trump is being indicted, so he's gonna do everything he can to try to slow down the system?

Sounds like a grown man acting like a 3 year old, saying that since he's not getting his way, he's gonna hold his breath until he turns blue.
Demscum acted like three year olds the whole time Trump was in office. You guys are the idiots.
