A fourth opportunity to stop him could have happened by engaging the lock to Room 111 in the school. Unlike other rooms, he was able to simply open the door and walk in several times because the door was probably not locked to begin with.

Additionally, the school’s staff was not armed and ready to repel the shooter. That’s a fifth failure to act that happened long before the shooting.

It was only at this point, after several good opportunities had been squandered by an individual officer and society at large, that the killing of children commenced. But, there were more opportunities to stop the killing.

During this time, it should be noted that police outside were physically assaulting parents who wanted to go in and do their jobs.

Arming the teachers is a surrender to the gun & criminal lobby. Not letting crazy kids take their guns to class is a better idea. Nation`s Real Assholes receive funding from the gun manufacturers who would love to see thousands of teachers buy guns. Maybe we should give gun control a try?

Um, not that either. We are gun owners. But society is so bad right now that parents don't trust us to open their kids applesauce, yet folks on USMB want us....oh yeah, carrying weapons.

I even have a feeling , but based only on memory , that the school had actually been closed for some time when the massacre was alleged to have occurred

Well, if my fellow conservatives could come back around to agreeing and publicly stating that not all teachers are out to sexualize or indoctrinate children, and some of us even voted for Trump and teach Sunday School, this would be a huge step in the right direction.

Unless you can show that the claim is incorrect, you have the strange situation of a number of people allegedly killed who actually never lived or died well beforehand .

You can't rely on teachers to defend kids from armed intruders. They are civilians and you can't force them to carry a weapon. It's reasonable to depend on local Police but in the Uvalde shooting the police failed to respond in time. You could fault the media for blaming the 2nd Amendment rather than addressing the real issues.

You can't rely on teachers to defend kids from armed intruders. They are civilians and you can't force them to carry a weapon. It's reasonable to depend on local Police but in the Uvalde shooting the police failed to respond in time. You could fault the media for blaming the 2nd Amendment rather than addressing the real issues.

It isn't a matter of them actively fighting the attacker....it is the mere presence of an unknown number of armed individuals in unknown locations around the building that keeps mass public shooters from attacking in the first place.......we know this from the various attackers taken alive and from their journals and manifestos when they die........

That is the thing that too many don't understand.....just stating there are armed staff on campus will keep attackers away.......

Sure, sure. Teachers like me who teach 150+ students a day, who do not belong to the union, should ALSO "stand up" to YOUR specifications.

The suggestion is to allow teachers who want tot to carry their guns.
The anti0gun loos oppose this because it might work.
