This is a look at the timeline and police reports for the Maine shooter.....from the police reports, it is obvious there was reason to take him into actual police custody....besides have been in a mental health facility.....

He threatened to shoot up a National Guard base, which, according to the column...is a felony....he could have been arrested for this....

Timeline – Police Report 2, 9/15/23 – Welfare Check Requested by Maine National Guard. Five Weeks before the Lewiston Shooting.

The first sentence from the police narrative: “I received a complaint from the Maine National Guard asking me to perform a welfare check on Robert Card.” It goes on, “As of recent, it has come to the Guard’s attention that Card is having psychotic episodes where he is hearing voices that are insulting him, calling him a pedophile.” “Card is also making threats to shoot up the Saco National Guard facility. He had been committed (to a mental facility in New York) over the summer for a couple of weeks due to his altered mental state but has since been released.”

Time Out!

Making a credible threat against a military facility is a felony. This accusation and other contributing factors established probable Cause that a crime may have been committed and another may be imminent. Why was this complaint only a “wellness check” not a warrant for his arrest, with a search warrant?

The responding deputy police officer reports going to Card’s residence, finds no one home, hands off the complaint to the evening shift and then cuts and pastes a letter. Excerpts from this letter appear below.

“Card is one of my senior firearm instructors in Bravo Company in Saco. Card has been hearing voices calling him a pedophile and other insults. This hearing voices started in the spring and is only getting worse.” It goes on, “On July 15, 2023, while at West Point, Card was hanging out with several other soldiers at the hotel they were staying. In the parking lot, Card accused three of them of calling him a pedophile.” A shoving match ensued. When things calmed down Card said, “he would take care of it.”

There are many American shooters that have threatened and ibeen gnored. The NRA and the pro-gun side's agenda demand it be that way because acting to stop any of them is made to be an infringement of 2nd. amendment rights.

This is not going to change and that's because the fact is that it would have to be an infringement of 2A rights. It's the price of freedom in America!

In Canada we don't have to pay that price for freedom.

In many cases involving mass shootings, warning signs have been overlooked or unheeded, as in the Parkland, Florida shooting, the Pulse Nightclub shooting in Orlando, Florida, and the church attack in Charleston, South Carolina.

Make no mistake Americans, I do not advocate acting to stop a shooter if it means infringement on his/her 2A rights!

So many word so little correct. I know of no one who thinks someone making a credible threat shouldn’t be arrested. Do you have some examples of such things?

We don't advocate action being taken to stop America's mass shooters if it has to be at the expense of 2a rights.
Let's agree and leave it at that!

Ok if you want to agree with me that your first statement was wrong we can do that.

Well duh.

You can't punish innocent people, how would you do that?

What new law do you propose that would have stopped any of the "mass shootings"?

Let me guess........Universal background checks???? :auiqs.jpg:

And when your freedom is at risk, and that gov't becomes tyrannical, your country will have no recourse.

No, that is an infringement on 2A rights too! As are all gun free zones invented by lib'ruls.

I would advocate that all schools in America and staff be armed with the most efficient weapons!

The problem is, and you know this, that they are intentionally not doing the only thing that might actually prevent a shooting because their preferred response is to simply take away the weapons they have immediately available. The right solution, and you know this, as does virtually all gun controllers and socialist/Democrats, is to order any person adjudicated to be a danger to himself or others held in protective custody either in a mental health facility or, lacking such an available facility or in other appropriate cases, held in jail.

If you take a murderer's guns away, (I almost posed this as a question but we both know it is a fact) you know that the determined murderer will simply find another weapon. There are many knife attacks for those murderers too lazy or stupid to get a gun but getting a gun is absolutely simple in any country in the world - including Canada.

It's not the gun's fault (and you know that) The only difference with America from other countries is an American's culture of wars and killing.

Americans can never accept that. The only one who had the courage to say it was Michael Moore and the interviewer shut him down quickly.

In other words, you can't think of any.
When there are no Canadian lives at risk, I have the luxury of agreeing with Americ's pro-gun side.

Arming all school teachers with super proficient ar-15's would be an interesting experiment. It's also possible on account of at least half of Americans already agree that it would stop school shootings!
