CDZ American Muslim's and Assimilation

What should muslims in America do in your opinion to be considered fully assimilated?
---
Assimilation definition:
"The process by which a person or persons acquire the social and psychological characteristics of a group".

If you really mean "assimilation", then people from Muslim cultures should adopt American beliefs & act accordingly.
Maybe difficult to do for immigrants, but those born here and going to American schools should have no problem, especially if they don't maintain their parent's religion.

Cultural assimilation is not a one way street. Both cultures assimilate however, the predominate culture assimilates less. The idea that Muslim cultures should or will morph into American culture is a bit silly. All immigrants bring their own culture to America. Over generations, that culture blends with American culture but the immigrants and their dependents will always carry some of their original culture.

Religious beliefs, Islam, Christianity, Hinduism, Judaism, Buddhism, etc do change with migration but they change slowly because religion unlike language and social mores tend to be the same in different cultures.

... immigrants and their dependents will always carry some of their original culture.

Religious beliefs ... change slowly because religion unlike language and social mores tend to be the same in different cultures.
---
I have to disagree with you when you use words like "always" and claim that religious beliefs "change slowly" for nearly all cultures.
Perhaps in the more conservative, autocratic cultures (e.g., Muslim for sure, maybe Hindu), assimilation occurs more slowly, but in the American public school system, independent thought is valued, esp if logical.
[Actually, that shows the failure of our education system; most young people still say they believe in religion!]

As one example, a friend's parents are immigrants from Russia & both parents are staunch Christian believers. They have 3 grown kids. Neither offspring goes to church or is religious, and only one believes in "spiritual" possibilities.
All 3 kids went to highly regarded universities.
Perhaps they are exceptions. I hope not.

When I said religious beliefs change slowly, I meant religious doctrine changes slowly not adherence to the doctrine. Whether children follow the faith of their parents depends on a lot of factors, not just education. Parents instill religious beliefs in their children. How successful they are in large part determines whether their children remain faithful to those beliefs.

Try reading once more, within context.
It was one example of rapid assimilation, away from previous generation's dogma.

I can agree with that, for those parents who take religion seriously.
From the children's perspective, it's a matter of remaining "faithful" vs "thinking independently".
And girls are much more likely to be ... subservient.

Nope, not making sense. Are you imagining the abandonment of religion as assimilation to American culture?

That is a completely false choice, indicating you may not understand either word.

What should muslims in America do in your opinion to be considered fully assimilated?

Become citizens? all of this, he cannot
Dress differently?
Build more mosques?
Get a CCW permit?
Vote?

By definition, to be considered a proper Muslim, Sharia Law and the various commands of Mohamed must be observed.

Therefore, it is plain that unless a Muslim renounces all of this he cannot ever fit into American or Western society.

I'ts a complete clash of religions, cultures and civilizations.

"....unless a Muslim renounces all of this...."

That would be apostasy.

"Apostasy
Does Islam allow freedom of religion or does it threaten the death penalty for apostasy?

Those who turn their back on Islam are to be executed. This is confirmed by the words and deeds of Muhammad. The only freedom of belief in Islam is the freedom to become Muslim."
Apostasy in Islam

Quran (4:89) - "They wish that you should disbelieve as they disbelieve, and then you would be equal; therefore take not to yourselves friends of them, until they emigrate in the way of God; then, if they turn their backs, take them, and slay them wherever you find them; take not to yourselves any one of them as friend or helper."

Quran (9:11-12) - "But if they repent and establish worship and pay the poor-due, then are they your brethren in religion. We detail Our revelations for a people who have knowledge. And if they break their pledges after their treaty (hath been made with you) and assail your religion, then fight the heads of disbelief - Lo! they have no binding oaths - in order that they may desist."

Other verses that seem to support the many Hadith that establish the death sentence for apostates are Quran verses 2:217, 9:73-74, 88:21, 5:54, 9:66.

no matter that is what is required, a total renunciation of their faith.

Let me give you a glimpse of what society is up against:

"Another disturbing aspect of the trial against the Blind Sheikh and his fellow jihadists was the character witnesses who testified for the defense. Most of these people were moderate, peaceful Muslim Americans who would no more commit terrorist acts than the rest of us. But when questions about Islamic doctrine would come up—“What does jihad mean?” “What is sharia?” “How might sharia apply to a certain situation?”—these moderate, peaceful Muslims explained that they were not competent to say. In other words, for the answers, you’d have to turn to Islamic scholars like the Blind Sheikh.

Now, understand: there was no doubt what the Blind Sheikh was on trial for. And there was no doubt that he was a terrorist—after all, he bragged about it. But that did not disqualify him, in the minds of these moderate, peaceful Muslims, from rendering authoritative opinions on the meaning of the core tenets of their religion. No one was saying that they would follow the Blind Sheikh into terrorism—but no one was discrediting his status either."
Islam—Facts or Dreams?

1- Yes
2- Yes
3- No

Stop accepting Western money and rejecting Western values. Embrace modernity. No more honor killings. No more Sharia courts. Don't come here to live unless you want to live here, Do not try to make this country into the place you left.

How many Muslim honor killings have occurred in the US, and allowed to go unprosecuted? How many Sharia courts exist in the US, lawfully?

that is why I say they must renounce their own belief system. to be guided by a lunatic can only end up with more lunacy

Muslims in the Western countries make a big deal about how there is discrimination against them while they enjoy all the benefits of that country and retain their Islamic culture.

It's hypocritical, because they know that any Westerner that might want to settle in an Islamic country is - to put it mildly - not even welcome.

Assimilation is impossible between these two cultures.

What western people don't understand is the prohibition of muslims giving unscholarly opinions about Islamic issues to non-muslims.

Because if a muslim gives an incorrect or misguided answer to a question about the religion. It will be held against him on judgement day. So muslims are reluctant to answer questions concerning the religion. But their reticence doesn't mean they agree with the sheikh either. .....
