It's been obvious for many years that the traditional Republican party has been blatantly lying to the rank & file since the 1980s. While pretending to champion conservative social values, they really only championed the interests of the wealthy.

It doesn't surprise me that the rank & file Republicans have turned on the Traditional Republicans.

What I do not understand is what they have against Democrats. Democrats are generally pro-working class. Sure, they've been a bit off the deep end in championing liberal social values, but those are really insignificant. Seriously - who cares if gays get married? Who cares of other people get abortions? Those issues don't affect people with conservative social values - as long as they can mind their own business.

It seems that since the 1980s there has been a concerted effort to create a mindless hatred for anything that's labeled 'Liberal'. It's become a catch-all knee jerk reaction by rank & file Republicans - a sort of pavlovian dog reaction.

What even more amazing is that the MAGA crowd worships the poster child for the most extreme liberal social values. A man that defies everything that the Maga crowd claims to believe in. A thief, a crook, an adulterer, a traitor, a con man. The most anti-Christian man imaginable.

But just because Trump lied to them (or simply didn't care about objective proof because he views change by the day) doesn't mean the leadership of America didn't fuck over the poor bastards who lost homes and retirements in 2008. Miners in W. VA didn't want clean energy jobs requiring masters degree ... they wanted their jobs back. And neither the dems nor the gop had an answer.

Actually, the Dems do have a plan. Raise taxes on upper earners and healthcare providers to fund govt spending on after school, lunches and healthcare. But when you have a guy who lost his insurance when his job disapperated, it's hard for him to understand why he now has medicaid via Obamacare.

Right wingers claim they love America more than their counterparts but have expressed utter contempt for all of its institutions. How can something so revered also be so reviled?

• Scientists like the CDC
• Educators and universities
• Environmental experts like the EPA
• Government leaders and administrators
• The Election process
• The legal system
• The actual government

The distrust is so visceral that right wing conspiracies are now commonplace. The article below talks about Fox News’ role in this predicament. As you can see from the chart below it is entirely an American phenomenon.

The power of Fox News is truly spectacular. Outrage sells, and the fact that one of the two major parties amplifies Fox uncritically means it has a surprisingly large influence in setting the agenda for the mainstream media too.

The truth is that US institutions mostly operate about as well as they ever have. But Fox pushes outrage over Dr. Fauci and trust in the CDC plummets. They push outrage over Donald Trump's loss in 2020 and trust in elections plummets. They go all in on CRT and DEI and trust in schools plummets. They push climate denialism and trust in science plummets. They insist that the rest of the news media are liberal pawns and trust in the very institution that explains reality plummets.

Has there ever been an institution like Fox News that works so relentlessly from within to destroy faith in a country by its citizens? It's a real-life version of what conservatives thought the Communist Party was in the '50s. And we all just let it happen.
