Israel and Saudi Arabia were in final stages of negotiations to normalize relations and form a defacto alliance against Iran. Thats why Iran unleashed Hamas.

I am a bit surprised Israel wasn't on alert for attacks during this period. Maybe they were expecting something from Hezzbullah or from the East.

In a better world, Egypt would agree to take back Gaza, and Jordan would take back the West Bank. But neither nation wants anything to do with the radicalized elements there (not to mention letting in Iranian client organizations).
