AFI Life Achievement Award to Jane Fonda

I caught about five minutes of it while channel surfing last night, and it was a bunch of old actors stroking each other.

Okay, here's the problem, as an actress, it wasn't like Fonda had a lot of "acheivements".

She was a hot new actress in the 1960's, but largely because she was Hollywood royalty. Then she did that Vietnam thing, and she became box office poison for a long time because people blamed her for what she did during the war.

By 1980, her career was largely over, but here's the thing. Most actresses don't have great careers after 40.

So would she be getting a lifetime acheivement award if she hadn't let herself get used in a publicity stunt by the Commies in Vietnam?

Or would she be Faye Dunaway, who just got forgotten when she started to sag.

For entertainment purposes, please compare their filmographies on IMDB.

Jane Fonda - IMDb

Faye Dunaway - IMDb

They are both about the same age, and both of their careers were effectively over by 1990.

Quite a few comments were made about Barbarella. She said that both Brigette Bardot and Sophia Loren turned it down. Vadim insisted she do it.
