He forgets about the other parts of the deal when Ukraine gave up their nukes, like NATO not moving and inch to the East

They also gave up all their foreign debts so that Russia would have to take care of them and as far as I know America was not interested in letting them have those nukes. It was like letting a monkey play with a grenade. Look at them Ukies destroying themselves without the nukes. As Russians say "give a fool a glass cock and see what comes of it".

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, having received a lackluster response when he pitched his ‘victory plan’ to US officials in Washington last month, now says that Ukraine must either join NATO or obtain nuclear weapons.​

He made the ultra provocative comments while speaking before the EU’s European Council in Brussels, where he presented the victory plan before European lawmakers. That’s when he referenced a recent private conversation with Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, saying he told Trump that his country needs “some kind of alliance” or be “forced to pursue nuclear weapons.”​

“In a conversation with Donald Trump I said – this is our situation: What way out do we have? Either Ukraine will have nuclear weapons, which for us will be a defense, or we’ll need to have some sort of alliance, besides NATO. But today we know of no other alliance,” Zelensky said.​

“NATO countries today are not at war. NATO countries are not fighting. In NATO countries people are still alive. Thank God. That is why we choose NATO, not nuclear weapons. And Donald Trump heard me. He said you have a just argument,” he continued.​

At one point in these comments he referenced this historic Budapest Memorandum, a 1994 agreement where Ukraine agreed to give up its nuclear arsenal from Soviet times in exchange for security guarantees from Russia, the US, and UK.​

He also emphasized in a rhetorical question, “Which nuclear states suffered? None except Ukraine… Who gave up their nuclear weapons? All of them? No. Only Ukraine… Who is fighting today? Ukraine.”​

Without determining exactly who is truly to blame for the war that began in 2014, and why these two began fighting to the point of attempting to drag the entire world into it with them, then we are at a stalemate in the situation moving forward.

We can't take Zelinsky or Putins word in this thing it seems, but we must talk with both of them regardless if peace is going to somehow prevail.

The main one to watch out for is this Zelinsky, otherwise who has been made heavily dependent on U.S. weapons and intelligence. It is his hopes to win his devastated country back by leaning heavily on the U.S. for whom he figures can cast fear into the Russians by the mere mentioning of a deal between Ukraine and America being struck, otherwise for bringing in more cash and more modern weapons for what ???.... Peace cannot be achieved in such a way.

They feel that Russia doesn't want the U.S. interfering or meddling in it's war against Ukraine, and it's for obvious reasons, and those reasons are because of a renewed strength after Biden has left the building, and Trump is now in charge.

It goes back to the reunification of Germany in the 90's. NATO promised Russia if it would give up East Germany, NATO would not move 1 inch east towards Russia. So, Gorbachev tore down that wall. Then, in 2004 NATO accepted Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania, breaking that promise. So now, the group formed specifically to block in Russia (NATO) is inching closer and closer, and installing missile silos along the way. It got worse from there, like the bombing of Serbia. Europe & Biden pushed too far, though. It is a mater of national security for Russia, while it is political games for the West. There's absolutely no way Putin allows NATO (and her missiles) on Russia's border. He will let loose nukes first, consequences be damned.
