Without question though, political cults are the biggest threat to human beings on the face of the earth as they have the army and police to back them up and they can print money on a whim. For example, any example of mass genocide in human history is always led by the state in an ordered and systematic way. Without the aid of the state, these mass genocides simply could never have happened. There are just too many examples of this.

To become a cult they need the type of people willing to give up their own self choices to someone else.
