When I was 7 I had a .410 shotgun, just right for a kid my age, but always wanted to fire the big 12 gauges my grandpa and uncle had. Pestered them incessantly about it. One day, they decided to let me but my uncle Johnny was gonna help me "hold" it.

I wasn't having any of that, and when I got hold of the shotgun I twisted a little away from him -- the deal was, grandpa was gonna fire his right by me, while Uncle Johnny put my safety on.

I saw what they were doing, twisted away a little and let 'er rip!

BLAMMMMMMM!!!

Knocked me on my ass, separated my shoulder, cut my hand and lip, and gave be a nice pop-knot on my cheek!

But, I DID hit the target!

They laughed about that for decades...... And laughed harder about how when they would ask, I NEVER wanted to shoot that 12 gauge again!
