YOu have to make $100K to afford McDonalds

The minimum wage has not even come close to keeping up with inflation.

You can't whine about inflation one moment and then stomp on minimum wage workers the next.

The last federal minimum wage hike was in July 2009.

The $7.25 wage then has the purchasing power of about $4.00 today.

But cruelty is the point, right?

Mkay.

And how many jobs actually pay minimum wage? I had a college degree and I was pumping jet fuel into regional airliners in the pouring down rain for a dollar over minimum back in 2002, for 5.15 an hour. Rent on my apartment was 350 a month for a tiny little 1 bedroom job. That job helped me save to go BACK to school to earn a degree and licence to work on airplanes that worked me into managing a corporate jet hangar 11 years later, starting at 3 times that amount and going up from there with full benefits, etc. How did I get that job? I was a shoe-in because the previous manager of the hangar that was leaving worked with me at my first job, he actually was my replacement when I left to go back to school full time. Then I wound up taking HIS job 3 years later at the hangar. Go figure.

Nobody expected me to live on that first job. But it got me in the door at the airport, which opened up so many opportunities. That first minimum wage job help me rub elbows with some VERY wealthy and famous people, like Vince and Stephanie McMahon and Brian Williams. (on the same night, and one right after the other, 10-02-02, the day before Hurricane Lili hit my state. Steph and Vince were arriving to get their plane out of its path and Williams was getting here to cover the damage afterwards.)

This has been happening for a long time. Only thing Trump is doing is to continue making it all worse.

When I retired in 2020 you could get two sausage mcmuffins and a large diet coke for $3.00.

Now it's between $5 and $6. It didn't just happen the last couple months.
Jack In The Box 'value' menu features a 'Big Cheeseburger" for $2.49, value fries for $1.00, a value drink for $1.00 and you can add 2 tacos to that. Total: $5.48. McDonalds has become way too expensive and, IMO, the food sucks.

Hey though, I can buy 2 big 'street' Asada tacos from the local taco place for $7.00. If I buy a drink at that place the bill will be $10. I bring my own drink.

I have also noted a big rise in the number of food trucks. They even have a food truck 'park.' You can get Mexican, Asian, Filipino, Tai, etc. at reasonable prices without paying for the ambiance of a restaurant.

Bottom line, we adapt.

I'mma hafta take your word for it. I never eat fast food.

If you are poor or even middle class you likely cannot afford to eat out, even at fast food places.

This is what trump is doing to our economy.

This is a good thing. People should probably eat out less, if we're being honest. Drive down restaurant row any night starting around 6pm and you'll see every restaurant jam packed, with a wait. People taking their families out spending hundreds of dollars every week instead of eating at home.

And yet they say the economy is in the toilet.

The fast-food places that I patronize all have bargain "meals" with which you can bombard your digestive system with tasty and lethal garbage for around $5. KFC has the "Famous Bowl" and other things, Wendy's has bargain items, and Arby's "Market" sandwiches are big enough for two people. I don't know about Mickey Dee's but I imagine they do as well.

And it's worth saying that many Americans have been pushing for FF workers to get more money, and in my area the effective minimum wage is $11/hr: nobody will work for less than that. So we got what we wanted, so really should not complain when that results in higher FF prices, eh?

It couldn't have anything to do with everyone raising wages could it? I mean, that's going to have an affect on prices. Going from $7.50 per hour to $15+ per hour, you didn't think that would happen for free did you?

It's great everyone is making more money, except everyone just increased their prices to soak up all that extra money.

If you have a medium sized rice cooker I have a great recipe for you. One can of red kidney beans, one small can of Goya tomato sauce, two teaspoons of chili powder, two teaspoons of Adobo, one medium onion diced. Saute The Onion and a little bit of oil for 2 or 3 minutes. Once in a while I will buy a single red bell pepper and dice it up with the onions! Add the rest of the ingredients and stir it in until it's all warm.

Put that over two scoops of rice cooker rice.
It has a little bit of everything in it.

If you really want to get fancy one quarter pound of ground beef in with the onions and pepper at the beginning.

You'll get about three meals out of this.

Kidney beans 1$....chili powder is usually $2 for a standard sized container ( forget about 25 doses out of it). $3 for an 8 oz Adobo(last forever) onions are about $1 a pound, Goya tomato sauce three for a buck.... I like the basmati rice but it's a little more pricey than the short grain. 10 lb bag will last for ages. Usually about 6 or 7 bucks. Quarter of a pound of ground beef probably about a $1.50. a single red bell pepper will cost you about 50 cents.

The amount of electricity you use will be very negligible.

All in all I'd say you could make this for a total cost of between 4 and $5 and get three meals out of it.

Sounds good. The thing is though, the things I mention are mostly not about me.

The price of mcds increased 40 percent during the xiden admin

Where have you been living? Under a rock?
No Creepiest is just LYING again. Dems have to LIE because they have no valid criticism of Trump. Lie lie lie from their leaders in congress all the way down to the Dem sheeple like Creepiest.

Here in liberal lala land on the west coast after they jacked up the minimum wage you can go enjoy a sit down meal in an actual restaurant for less than the cost of McDonalds.

Fuck you guys are so desperate, it seems you've sold your souls to make a case that doesn't exist. Surely you've sold your brains, on the assumption those had one to begin with. Dont look now, here's 100 years, apparently wrapped up into 100 days, for a leftist.

Dude, no.

I just bought a friend McD's with $20 bucks.

Please, shut up with this doomsday crap.

Back in the seventies when I got around on foot mostly I had a Big boys restaurant right up the street from where I lived. Was working 2nd shift at the time so I would get up about 10:00 in the morning. Get all my chores done and head over to Big boys to eat. This is the restaurant chain that first invented the double decker burger.
I used to get two double deckers and a bottomless iced coffee for under $4. For me it was easier than going to the grocery store probably not healthier though.
