If the rebels overthrow Assad and want a religious government thats their business, its not our place to tell them what to do or the fuckin Russians for that matter.

The majority of the rebels in Syria aren't even Syrians, they're outside mercenaries being financed by the Saudi and Qatari governments. A lot of the "rebels" are Wahhabi and Sunni militant extremists. It's foreign proxy intervention by the U.S. and NATO which have been supplying the rebels with weapons by way of back channels through Turkey. So, according to you, it's up to the foreign Sunni and Wahhabi Muslim militant mercenaries to decide for the Syrians whether they want a religious government?
I told that the reasons that the U.S., NATO, the Saudis and the other GCC countries want Assad gone is because the alliance he has with the Iranian government. With Assad gone, the U.S. and Israel will have less to be concerned about when they attack Iran. Syria's proximity to Israel and Turkey makes it more riskier attacking Iran if Assad is in power.
In essence they're replacing the devil they know with another devil they think they can control...the Muslim Brotherhood.
