Wars happen and nations are defeated. In modern times, from the mid 20th Century on, defeat often means occupation and submission to the authority of the conquering nation. Nobody likes that, of course. But it happens and since it only happens to nations that prove themselves unable to win the war they often started, it is important to look forward and make the best of a bad situation. Islamic nations, and perhaps Islam itself, seems unable to internalize this obvious truism.
Look at our own Civil War. The so-called "Confederacy" was defeated, though they seemed to have sincerely believed that they had become a separate country. They objected to the conditions of the occupation, but for the most part peacefully. They realized that the faster they started acting like Americans (or should I say "United Statesians"), the faster they could get on with life and start enjoying the benefits of prosperity.
Same for the Germans and Japanese after WWII. They held their noses, accepted that they were beaten in wars they started and looked to American as a guide for how they can improve their people's lives.
With Islamic nations, and Islamic "freedom fighters" that never seems to happen. They don't bother to wonder why Israel is more successful, why Israelis are free and happy, nor why every other ideology manages to get along with others, no matter how different.
Sorry, I guess I'm stating a problem and not proposing a solution. I don't know. I would have thought that near total destruction, followed by total occupation, would do the trick as it did in the American South, West Germany, and Japan. But the Israelis, supported by the Americans, tried that after October 7th and it hasn't worked yet.
