Jay Leno found this new truck and goes over the details.

This truck is made in America. This truck carries 5 large passengers. It has a unique 5 ft bed. Would you buy one ? The bed grows to carry 4x8 sheets of plywood by folding the back seat forward. As to cold weather, it has the same problems as regular gas or diesel engines have with their batteries.

Nope. I have no interest in an electric vehicle.

No. Until they get a range of 750 miles or more, they are only suitable for urban dwellers.

Maybe once the charging infrastructure catches up to the needs of the modern vehicle driver. How does it perform in 10 below temperatures carrying a full load or towing something heavy?

With lots of hills like I saw a Tesla truck trying to go up at 35 in a 55.
Yeah, those range figures are about as meaningful as the gas mileage figures on a 5-year-old used car at a dealership.

A massive battery full of toxic chemicals that are mined by child slaves and needs to be recharged using dirty coal-fired electricity? No thanks.

Can it tow a 3 horse slant trailer?

They did not bring that up. However the problems with cold are shared by any car using Batteries such as a RWD Front engine Ford product.

Let's see what that range is with a load of firewood in the back.....Call it 2000 pounds for a half cord of dry seasoned oak.
I think it is rated as 500 hp.

The manufacturer claims it's rated at 3/4 ton ... which I don't believe for one second ... 500 hp @12 volts is 30,000 amps ...

I'll bet they burn purdy ...

Let's see how quickly you can jump that thing and get down to the local auto parts store to replace the battery. I live in cold country and can attest that it took me all of 45 minutes from discovery to new installed battery.

As a farm vehicle in a temperate climate it could be useful. Or not. Of course the irrepressible laws of nature mean that whenever it inconveniently runs out of power it will be the farthest from a charging point.

Is there some kind of requirement that all EV's have to be butt ugly?
