Would you buy this Electric truck? 5 passengers and 350 miles range

This truck is made in America. This truck carries 5 large passengers. It has a unique 5 ft bed. Would you buy one ?

I suppose I would if I were Jay Leno. BTW, that guy is really looking like shit.
Actually, I don't know what these things will sell for, but overall, it is one of the more attractive EVs to me both in features and styling.

Is there some kind of requirement that all EV's have to be butt ugly?

Yes there is. In fact, there is a fat old woman who goes around to car companies and bends over with her pants pulled down to give designers ideas for styling. Pretty good work if you can get it. :smoke:

... 500 hp @12 volts is 30,000 amps ...

30,000 amps. Good one. I wonder what gauge wire they need to carry that?! :shok:

That amounts to over 1.2 million BTUs---- about the output of 65 typical home heating furnaces.

Yeah, sure, I want that riding under my ass...

I prefer the look of the Rivien--but I wouldn't have one of those either.

Jay Leno has millions of dollars invested in old and new cars. He owns some Rolls Royces that are late models. And he is buying Electric vehicles as well. I believe the selling price of the truck featured here is about $50,000 when it finally is released for sale.

Yeah right, five passengers if they are good friends. It's a freaking golf cart on steroids. They shouldn't even allow it on the highway.

The video mentions size of passengers and they claim it is designed so men of 6'4' I believe can sit comfortably in the vehicle. I really don't like it myself. But let's focus on facts. It also has a very powerful electric motor and really is no problem in traffic.

That's what I said about Smart cars when I first saw them in Europe in 2006. I said, "They'll never allow them on the roads in the US." LOL, two years later, they were everywhere.

Let's see how quickly you can jump that thing and get down to the local auto parts store to replace the battery. I live in cold country and can attest that it took me all of 45 minutes from discovery to new installed battery.
I am not touting electric vehicles. I simply found it interesting after seeing the Jay Leno video. I have said over and over the major flaw in electric vehicles is they are battery powered and very very heavy.

Gigantic car (truck) batteries require haz-mat chemicals usually manufactured in China. They are subject to fires that endanger 1st responders. What's the point?

Agreed. Frankly, I have not seen a single EV made by /ANYONE/ whom I would buy on looks and styling alone. I hate the electronic dashboards. I've driven in Teslas and even a Lexus hybrid and honestly, Teslas look and feel like cheap cars, I cannot believe what people pay for them.

I figure they are made as light as possible to help compensate for the 2000 pounds of battery.

Yes, he has a fantastic collection of rare and old cars. And what did he do for all that money? Tell bad jokes at the start of the Tonight Show?
Beats me!!

Jay Leno found this new truck and goes over the details.

This truck is made in America. This truck carries 5 large passengers. It has a unique 5 ft bed. Would you buy one ? The bed grows to carry 4x8 sheets of plywood by folding the back seat forward. As to cold weather, it has the same problems as regular gas or diesel engines have with their batteries.

America needs to legalize Kei trucks.

Indeed!

I drove a Corbin Sparrow when they were producing them in Hollister, CA. They were being marketed as a 3-wheeled motorcycle with a body. They were butt ugly and heavy. I drove it alongside their warehouse and I have to give it credit for take-off, not so much for stopping. LOL, I didn't think it would ever stop. That is the only EV beyond a Prius (hybrid) that I have ever driven--it was enough.
