Women serve just fine in uniform, and I believe they can serve in any MOS if they can pass the physical requirements necessary for the job.

As I first said, before the original thread got hijacked, there are several MOS that women excel in, and in no way should be denied those jobs because of their gender. And I believe the claim that combat experience is necessary for advancement is preposterous. General David Petraeus had never been in a combat theatre before Iraq. Most of the noise coming from the left about women being suited for infantry duty is theoretical, not real-world. Are there women capable of combat duty? Sure. Probably any woman who is a strong swimmer or marathoner could pull her weight. But these women rarely see the US Military as a viable career choice. Israeli women for instance see military service as their birthright...they would never be denied the chance to protect their country. American women on the other hand, see military service as a source of personal benefits ie; educational and mortgage discounts after service. I'm generalizing of course. And I would add the physical expectations of modern combat have changed considerably since WW2, Korea, and Vietnam. Our modern force travels by mechanical transport now instead of slogging. The terrain in the ME is considerably different than in Europe or Asia. Still, all things considered, every troop in a combat theater is in essence a rifleman whether they're a cook or a truck driver. Jessica Lynch found that out by taking a wrong turn during the run to Baghdad.

Ya know, I think I would rather be serving with a woman who has the wherewithal to pick up a 10 lb. M-16 or a 20 lb. M-60 and return fire at the bad guys rather than some loosey goosey troop like you who would freak, grab the nearest tree limb, and start screamin' "LOOK AT ME!!! LOOK AT ME!!! I AM THE MOST STRAC PULL-UP DOER IN THE WHOLE GODDAM CORPS!!!"

Guess what, when I was in, an RTO humped an an over 20 lb PRC something or other through the worst blood and mud in the world...and he was not a combat arms troop, or didn't have a combat MOS. Meanwhile, back in the same frigging hell, Fire Direction Specialists humped slide rules and charts and FO's humped binoculars and had some lucky E-3 driving him around Those were combat MOSs.

So here is the deal. If I am in deep trouble and need a fire mission, I don't need the RTO chitter chattering with the FD specialist about gender roles and I do not care even one little damn whether the 13Echo put on his or her lipstick that morning or not, as long as someone is yelling "round out" posthaste and those rounds are in the right place.

HAVE YOU GOT THAT, SAILOR!!!

If women can do the job, let them do the friggin' job and do not arbitrarily count them out just because you don't like chicks.

Anyone who has been in combat knows that troops will surprise you and sometimes the meekest troop will do the bravest thing and some little guys can hump the most whatever ya need.

I don't want to see women fail in a Combat MOS. That's a lie. Which makes you a liar.

What I don't want is to see women DIE in a Combat MOS because they can't do the job or, even worse, cause another Soldier to die because she can't do the job...... Or, worst of all, cause the Mission to FAIL because she can't do the job.

If there are women out there who can meet the TRUE stringent requirements of a Combat MOS, I would not only be okay with it, I would be all for it.

Here's the truth, the Combat Arms is where all the 'Rank' is.

Latrine Orderlies don't get promoted to SGM or Lieutenant General.

In an Army Infantry Platoon, TO&E calls for 5 Sergeants..... Out of around 35-40 men. In a Company, there can be one Master Sergeant, a Sergeant First Class or two and as many as 10 Staff Sergeants and 20 buck Sergeants.

It's where the rank is. That's what this is all about and that's fine with me.

Tell you what.... And spread it around to all your libturd pals..... You stop acting like pre-pubescent, lying little bitches and I'll stop calling you names.

Call me all the names you want but let me tell you something, and I will try to make a long story short.

Back in the good old days when they were drafting every swingin' dick they could find, I signed up because I was brought up in a family that believed in service to this country. I dropped out of college. I wasn't going to make it a career but I was going to do my part. I told the recruiter I wanted infantry. I took some standard recruit test and scored really high on the GT portion and the recruiter was telling me all these nice things and said he could get me a combat MOS no problem, Stupid me, I figured 11 bush. I was a great troop in basic. No problem.

I almost cried when I was given orders for AIT at Ft. Sill. I knew what that meant.

Seems I had numbers dancing in my head and 13 Echo was, what I was to learn later, a critical MOS. I was introduced around and the words "school trained" always preceded the intro, as in "we've got a new 13 Echo and he's school trained". I had no idea what that meant at the time but came to find out they were hauling people off the guns, gun bunnies, for some OJT in combat situations, and I loved those guys with all my heart but they couldn't hardly stick a pin in a ten digit grid location if their lives depended on it, let alone operate three or more slide rules at once. FADAC was just coming out and it was worthless.

Having capable women in that critical combat MOS would have saved lives, so what exactly do you want me to "******* stop".

Later on, in a more peaceful time, I did get my 11. It was a Charlie but I wasn't going to quibble.

And don't hand me that "libturd" BS either. I really could have used the help.
