Will Democrats Ever Win the Military Vote?
2/3rds of the military consistently vote against Democrats. No wonder why they get short changed on their absentee ballots. Here is the last poll where the troops made their opinion known about Obama and where they stand politically. Notice how the Active Duty military, guard/Reserve Military/Retirees are overwhelmingly conservative. Military Times Poll
2012 Election Military Times Poll: Romney bests Obama, 2-1 | Army Times | armytimes.com
2008 Election Military Times poll: Troops backing McCain | Military Times | militarytimes.com
2004 Election USATODAY.com - Troops in survey back Bush 4-to-1 over Kerry
Those are kinda skewed polls (lol, hard to believe I'm saying that...)
but really, if you read into it, the polls are from subscribers of the magazine, which they openly say are older and more white then the military at large.
Direct Quote from the article:
The Military Times Poll is a secure email survey of active-duty, National Guard and reserve members who are subscribers to the Military Times newspapers (see How We Did It, below). The 3,100 respondents — roughly two-thirds active-duty and one-third reserve component members — are about 80 percent white and 91 percent male
This population is older and more senior than the military population at large, but it is representative of the professional core of the all-volunteer force.
Granted I wouldn't be surprised if the military backs Republican candidates overall, but since the younger parts of the military have many more minorities and also...are younger >.>...it probably isn't as bad as 2-1. Also the majority of the military quite young.
