Why would anyone object to Virginia’s new gun laws?

Virginia gun laws: What sparked Richmond gun rally tied to neo-Nazis?

Three bills passed the state Senate on Thursday: A limit to one handgun purchase per month, a requirement for universal background checks on gun sales and a rule allowing localities to ban guns in some public areas.
You would have to believe people in red states want common sense gun laws too. This is great. It’s a start
The people in Virginia voted for a gun control slate.

Outsiders are storming the Capital

I think you might live in the wrong country, you can’t infringe on my rights.. sorry buddy
States rights. Don’t move to New York City. You won’t like the gun laws there. And it’s all very constitutional

No, it isn't.

As a US Citizen i have RKBA, NYC denies it,

What the Supreme Court did was common sense. The 2nd Amendment says a well-regulated militia.

That's the right of the States. The right of the PEOPLE is to keep and bear arms.

commas mean things.
Our people do keep and bear arms

Not in NYC without a whole lot of infringement.

3-6 months and $500 in fees just to keep a handgun in your own house or apartment.
The people of NYC have spoken
NY is safer for it

The people of Alabama want to ban abortion. Let them do it?

Rights do not rely on popular vote.
They can take it to the courts just like gun control advocates have

Virginia’s laws are constitutional

Lets agree...

You should not be allowed to buy gun until you show membership to a 'well regulated militia'....

I presume this Militia will be registered with the Government be it Local, State or Fed... Constitution doesn't say that.

Now if it is well regulated it would have a registry of all the guns in their militia.

So it is up to the Government to up hold the law and make sure the US Citizen is part of Well Regulated Militia and a Well Regulated Militia would register guns... And that is the constitution...

You are making the same mistake that the Trumpians make with regards to a "high crime" and using today's verbiage to determine what was meant in the Constitution.

There was no registry of all the guns held by citizens in the 1700s, there were no serial numbers on Muskets to register them by.

That is not what they are talking about at all.

So was Plessey at one time.

NYC's law are obviously unconstitutional, but you ignore them because they show the true goal of gun grabbing sissies like you.

/—-/ Banning voting in some precincts would be a local rule too.
Sorry pal

But we don’t want you carrying your gun at sporting events, schools and public festivals

If you don’t feel safe without your gun...avoid public areas
do you think a real delusional killer will heed your advice?...

Probably not
But I don’t want the father who just saw his kid kicked out of a game to go after an umpire with a gun

I read your OP Winger, and maybe you should refine your question a little bit to this----------------->why would any of you people in Virginia oppose their new gun laws!

Honestly, that is the most pertinent question from a diverse point of view, since their actions according to inside polls have turned the State from blue, to probable red in the 2020 elections-) Now, you need to find out WHY this has happened, and adjust your sides idiocy accordingly!
Northern Virginia is solidly blue

Same people who are tired of the mass killings and voted for anti gun candidates

Hey, I am just telling you a fact. You can dispute it all you want, and I expect you to. Point is----------------->point is, these policies turned Virginia from blue, to a toss up state. That doesn't mean it won't remain blue, or turn red. What it does mean that the trend is going backwards for your side. Same with Illinois.

You DO realize that if you lose Illinois, the party is over don't you! While Illinois is a stretch compared to Virginia, just the words TOSS UP should send shivers through you, and at least make you question your own thought process.

We must all always remember that---------------->the people own the government, and not vice-versa. I agree that people should stand by their principles, and if Americans don't agree with those principles, they should expect to be voted out of office until the mindset of Americans change.

As long as we stand by our principles, we have absolutely NOTHING to apologize for! Therefore, Winger should continue advocating for gun confiscation. Northam should continue advocating for the same thing, along with blackface, and KKK robes. And the Lieut governor, should advocate for sexual assault and rape, along with gun confiscation, and never answer anything!

If Democratic voters see this as a good platform, then I guess Virginia stays blue. If not, well then I guess Democrats can't brainwash voters as well as they thought they could!

2. Universal background checks

Overwhelmingly supported by most Americans. Why don’t we want to keep gun sales away from criminals?
Why? Because you're kind doesn't punish criminals and no law stops a criminal from getting a gun, liar.

Why? Because you're kind doesn't punish criminals and no law stops a criminal from getting a gun, liar.

Limiting the supply of guns reduces the number available to criminals.

“A limit to one handgun purchase per month…”

Too burdensome, won’t have the desired effect – and it may not pass Constitutional muster.

In 2015 the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit invalidated the District’s prohibition on registering more than one handgun a month; in order for the Virginia measure to be enforced a registration process would likewise need to be implemented.

“…a requirement for universal background checks on gun sales…”

A measure perfectly appropriate, warranted, and Constitutional.

“…and a rule allowing localities to ban guns in some public areas.”

This might not pass muster in state courts as it conflicts with Virginia’s preemption statute for most firearm laws; state lawmakers may need to repeal the preemption statute altogether.

Absolutely there is nothing in those laws that any rational person should find objectionable. It is about the public safety. Given comments on this board and others by right-wingers there are people that should not be anywhere near dangerous objects much less guns.
/——/ Those who give up liberty for the false sense of security deserve neither. BF
Allowing assholes to run around in public armed is asking to get people killed
Yet, in spite of your wishes to the contrary, all is peaceful and well.

Or abortions.

We can even make the abortion comparison more appropriate by changing the time and the value.

Say a $50 fee, and 1-2 weeks of paperwork.

It's what gun control nuts want in the end, it's the endgame for all this incremental control.

Is what I stated infringement or not?
