Glad I don't live in VA...dems not wasting any time.

You really are delusional.

Virginia is generally considered a very safe state, ranking highly nationally for overall safety, with lower-than-average violent and property crime rates compared to the U.S. average, placing it safer than many other states, especially in suburban areas, though specific city and county safety varies, with Northern Virginia areas often topping safety charts.
Overall Safety:
  • High Rankings: Virginia consistently appears in the top half of states for safety in various analyses, often in the top 15 or 20.
  • Below National Average: The state's overall crime rate, including violent and property crimes, is often lower than the national average.
Crime Rates (Compared to U.S.):
  • Violent Crime: Virginia's violent crime rate (around 2.1-2.8 per 1,000 residents) is generally below the national average, notes reAlpha and Reolink.
  • Property Crime: Property crime rates are also generally lower than the national average, notes Reolink.
Regional Differences (Within Virginia):
  • Northern Virginia (NoVa): Areas like Arlington, Loudoun, and Fairfax counties are frequently cited as extremely safe, with Arlington often ranked as the safest county in the U.S. for low traffic fatalities and homicides.
  • Suburban & Small Towns: Well-funded law enforcement in suburbs like Glen Allen and Oakton, plus towns like Poquoson, contribute to high safety.
  • City Variations: While the state is safe, some cities have higher crime; however, even these cities often remain below the national average for violent crimes like assault and robbery, says this YouTube video.
Key Takeaway: Virginia offers a strong safety profile compared to most states, characterized by lower crime rates and high rankings in safety studies, with particularly safe pockets in its affluent suburbs and smaller towns, notes Patch.
The dems and the media change the definition of certain crimes... but they are still happening....

May it become the next Detroit.

And when it does, they will all blame a lack of gun-control laws for it and demand more. They obviously need more restrictions of law abiding people to reign in the waves of criminal violence by people who don't even care about the laws.

Then when the violence gets even higher, they will try to outright ban lawful people entirely from owning guns clearing the final way for criminals to run roughshod through the state killing with little fear of reprisal.

You are incorrect. CA has a lower rate of gun violence per capita than NH.

States with the highest gun violence rates per capita consistently include Mississippi, Louisiana, New Mexico, Alabama, and Alaska, often in the South and Mountain West, while states like Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, and Hawaii typically have the lowest rates, according to data from CDC, Pew, and other sources, with rankings varying slightly by year and specific metrics (homicide vs. overall death).
Now, post the cities in each state that boost the numbers as well as the party of the mayors and city council member.

This ain’t my first rodeo, boy.

Chop chop. I expect to see it in the morning. Or I will embarrass you.

AR-15 ban with magazine limitations.
Unconstitutionality aside, unless current firearms are confiscated, this will do nothing to affect gun violence in VA
Red Flag law expansion, likely to allow more people to abuse red flag laws against gun owners. This is about taking away our guns, either temporarily or indefinitely, depending on the judge
Red flag laws only remove the gun, not the threat - as such it does nothing to protect anyone.
As intended
  • Permit to purchase.
Unconstitutionality aside, this does nothing to reduce the number of firearms or firearm owners in VA, and criminal who want a gun will not bother themselves with getting a permit. As such, this will do nothing to affect gun violence in VA

There is no rational reason for these gun laws to exist.

INSIDE INFO ON GUN-CONTROL BILLS

TO BE INTRODUCED IN JANUARY

Virginia Citizens Defense League has inside information on a few of the gun-control bills that are going to be introduced in January. Democrat gun-controllers are intentionally delaying the introduction of bad gun-control bills, as they are hoping to keep gun owners from showing up in large numbers at Lobby Day. They do NOT want that massive and embarrassing 2020 rally to happen again, so they want gun owners to feel complacent, like nothing bad is going happen, since only two gun-control bills have shown up so far.

We must NOT fall into that trap!

Gun-control is not about fighting crime. Let me be crystal clear, government wants to take away our guns, one way or the other. It’s death by a thousand cuts. Here are a few of the bad bills that are coming in January:

  • AR-15 ban with magazine limitations. This is about taking away our guns by definition
  • Red Flag law expansion, likely to allow more people to abuse red flag laws against gun owners. This is about taking away our guns, either temporarily or indefinitely, depending on the judge
  • Permit to purchase. This is about discouraging gun ownership and/or reducing gun sales through red tape, time, and cost:
    • To be introduced in both the House and the Senate in the first week of the General Assembly session in January
    • The quiet part said out loud: the goal is to greatly reduce the number of gun owners and to discourage the purchase of any firearms. The lies we are told: this is to reduce crime, gun-trafficking, shootings by police (!?), and suicides
    • The permit is required to purchase a firearm
    • It will need to be renewed every 5 years
    • The permit will likely not be made available to anyone under 21
    • It will require fingerprints, run by either the Virginia State Police or local police, even on renewals
    • The permit requires the applicant to take a government approved training course taught by a government approved instructor
    • The training will most likely be longer and more involved than the training to get a concealed handgun permit
    • The training will require live fire. The live fire component alone will increase the cost of the training and greatly limit the availability of classes, since many ranges don’t allow the range to be used by instructors that are not employed by the range
    • There will likely be a $50 fee for the privilege of having a purchase permit
    • Application can take up to 45 days to be processed!
    • The law will likely go into effect on January 1, 2027
    • NICS background check will still be run when you purchase a firearm, and there will likely be a five-day waiting period on purchases.
    • A person who needs to buy their first gun in an emergency won’t be able to do so for at least a month, if not two months
    • Poor people will be priced out of the market, as they will have to pay for fingerprinting, the permit fee, and training, which will be expensive due to the live fire training requirement and associated reduction in available instructors.
