Why We Don't Have Universal Health Care.

People sure, paid lobbyists for big pharma and the healthcare industry no. That's inviting the fox into the henhouse.
I guess I just don't see it making much difference. If the government can make or break a business with decisions about what foods to tell us to eat, the companies with something at stake will find a way to influence legislators. Look at all the quid pro quo going on now with corporations kissing up to Trump for favors.

If people started eating properly the entire food industry would collapse overnight.

Properly? According to whom? Which "experts" will decide what we should eat? Who decides which experts we must listen to?

People would make that decision after being educated. I did, so can they, or not.

If two stores opened in a 'food desert' (not a ghetto), one selling healthful food, the other selling cigarettes, liquor, and junk foods, which one do you think would prosper?

You know, like all the other developed nations (among others) have. The reason is because of the Insurance industry and the money they can get politicians to take. I say we hang the insurance industry out to dry.
We have health care for the aged and those younger who qualify as seriously ill.

All business programs, whether public or private, are subject to problems.

I have had the finest health care from the VA and military health services for many years. Private health care errors nearly killed once, and my VA primary care physician saved me. The VA outreach programs to give veterans community care options has been marvelous.

Yes, the government could run a health care system for the country.

Educated by whom? You seem to be missing the point I'm making here. Why should the government decide what we should eat?
It's a whole lifestyle thing, not just food. Did you ever wonder why cities are extending bar hours well into the morning when we have an alcoholism and drunk driving problem? My city encourages bike riding but took down all the diving boards from the beaches. Not enough women and minorities were using them, plus the white guys were ogling the girls. True story.

Why?... do you think it would cost you less?... because it won't... it will cost you more for lousy care... it will be managed care... managed by the federal government... the federal government has no heart when it comes to approving medication or procedures... everyone would be on what is called medicare advantage plans... and your taxes would skyrocket each year more than you could keep up with....

Well, move then. We don't have that problem in the Great Basin. Ask Robert W. Ask Harry Dresden.

You're still missing the point. But it seems you don't want to talk about it, so I'll quit badgering you.

You're missing my point. The government isn't going to force anyone to do anything. My proposal is strictly educational. If people don't know their ass from a hole in the ground, they might need some more 'schoolhousin'.

Yeah, well, when they take our money in the form of taxes, and then use it to promote someone's idea of a good diet - there's force involved there. You might not want to admit it, statists never do, but that's just the way government works. "Strictly educational" is irrelevant.

You really want people who may not be fully qualified and forced to provide "medical care" to treat you and others ???
Have you really thought this through or are you as dumb as you appear ??? !!!

So many here are idiots on this "get everything for free" GREED kick that lacks brains and common sense.

Of course its not FREE, fucktard. I didn't say it was going to be FREE.
But it should be free to be able to SEE a doctor for your basic care and needs.

And the doctors and nurses would have to pass ethics and medical tests to get the jobs, just like all the others.

OUR tax dollars would pay for it. And I'd rather have that system than the one we have now, as they are SO corrupt and despicably nothing more than organized crime organizations, that they take your money and then deny you your rights to get the services you paid for.

Not me. I don't want asshat politicians like Trump in charge of my health care. I don't know why anyone would want to take that risk.

HSS Secretary Kennedy is readying recommendations for improving our health. He'll be replacing the old 500-page tome with a 5-page one.
