Even Jefferson, who penned the immortal words in our Constitution ("....all men are created equal'), also owned slaves. Please. And on the other hand, we can be like ISIS or the Taliban (that destroy 1000 year old Buddhist statues or wreck ancient artifacts in museums) because we are "offended" by them. You can smash statues, and destroy art or burn books. But you can't redact history, because you don't like it.
