One of the first steps, she explains, is separating our ideas of parental authority from the days of "Father Knows Best." While this authoritarian approach worked in the past, it's ineffective for today's generation of young ones who are far more comfortable with collaboration.

"There are no longer these straight lines of authority. The boss is no longer in charge of the dad, the dad is no longer in charge of the mom, and the mom is no longer in charge of the kids. They are growing up in a culture of democracy and equality and they feel that," she explained, referring to the changes in workplaces, homes and schools that have led to more decision-making by committee.

Why are kids messed up today?

Internet!

24/7/365 Mass media with little regulation!!

Cellphone that are android !!!

Government tell parents that they have no say in raising their kids!!!!

But

What has messed up the Millennials and Generation Z and even their offspring?

The drugs we pumped into them to keep them calm and now those kids are producing kids after taking mind altering drugs all their childhood and young adulthood life.

What could possibly go wrong?

Sure moving away from what worked for ten thousand years is part of it but what is the real culprit is the fact our kids that have been on those drugs should not be reproducing!

Actually, it's more along the line of, the reason why organizations make decisions by committee is because no one wants to take responsibility or let anyone have that much power.

And frankly, this is a good thing, usually... if it weren't for the human tendency towards "GroupThink".

All true, but the kids were pumped full of SOMA because their idiot parents permitted it. ADD became the excuse, and drugs the cure.

That said, the main problem today is that parents prefer to be "friends" to their children, instead of parents. They've turned the parenting responsibilities over to the State.

Yes, yes, every generation thinks that they are much better than the generation that followed, and the generations that preceeded it were much worse.

Get a grip.

In many cases, it's true.

Everything broke down when they got rid of corporal punishment. Then, they made it illegal to knock the hell out of your child for back talking. And the Pierre de resistance. <---- However you say it. Allow there kids to talk to them any kind of way. This goes on everyday. Our parents back in the day would slap your teeth down your throat! That was the end of it. Nevermind calling the Po's unless the house was torn to pieces from your butt getting beat down.

^^^ There is such a thing as going too far with physical punishment where your kids are concerned. My dad was arrested for it after going after my older sister for his second time.

God bless you always!!!

P.S. To me, the best way to punish a child is by grounding them because you can strip them of everything for as long as you think that they should go without whatever you take away from them if they are bad enough.

Of course it's possible to go too far when it comes to physical punishment but that doesn't mean it should be done away with entirely and replaced with "time out". Kids who do not fear their parents won't have any reason to abide by any boundaries put on them.

^^^ Maybe I look at things differently because I came from a couple who needs boundaries placed on them, my dad most definitely.

God bless you and my mom always!!!

Well we have many inspiring millennials, such as entrepreneurs like Zuckerberg and others - what do the parents of their children do differently than the ones who are allegedly "f-ked up"?

Or for that matter, has there ever been a time in history in which there was a 'perfect' parent?
