Trump got to the nomination by having a divided opposition, and often that opposition was itself divided along demographic and ideological groupings as well.
So it is supposed to be better for Trump in the general election if he faces Hillary one-on-one? Why? It has not been how he has won up to now, why expect it to be his best approach in the general?
There is merit to allowing the neocon wing of the GOP to split off and form a third p arty.
1. It is the basis for a ban on these goons ever returning to the party leadership. Simply disallow any who have failed to support the GOP Presidential candidate from ever holding GOP office again. This amounts to the neocons performing a self purge.
2. It helps Trump to win the election by giving a drain for anti-Trump voters to vote for a hopeless third party while Trump draws on Sanders supporters as a protest against Hillary. In a three way race this is solid strategy.
3. Trump would be staking out the true just right of center middle ground where most Americans are in this country and give him the best political base to campaign from. This also would be seen as giving him more authenticity for White Working Dems and independents.
Trump should continue to campaign the same way he did to get the GOP nomination; divide and conquer.
