Putin obsessed with leaving a legacy of bringing back the Russian Empire of old has instead gotten himself mired down in a hellhole .....forgetting if he ever knew(probably not) that a freedom loving people willing to fight and die to preserve their liberty is a potent.....extremely potent foe.

Putin has put on display for the World to see(no one listening more careful than China) that Russia is a paper tiger.

In fact China may now forget about Taiwan and start to plan on how to grab millions of acres of Russian Land....China needs land ....a lot more land to be able to grow the food they need and will need in the future....since Russia is so close and so weak....what is to stop them?

If China decides to invade Taiwan they may face a blowback like Russia is getting from the Ukraine.....but if China decided to take huge swathes of Russian Land--who would care?

Anyhow...........why is the Russian Army so weak?

He isn't using much of his military power supposedly only 10% of it.

As the Russian army continues to advance in Ukraine and capture city after city. The Ukrainian soldiers ranks have been decimated.
Most of these defenders killed were the younger, more aggressive soldiers.
So that now, what's left to fight is the older soldiers, aged 40 to 60+ with very little to no combat experience.

A couple of things, Russian soldiers don't want to be in the Ukraine. They view them as more or less their own kin, and have no skin in the game and probably disagree with their leader for doing it.

So that decreases the drive to fight. Now if they were being invaded and their families threatened, you don't have that problem to motivate them to fight.

Secondly, Russia is an economic paper tiger. They never have been an economic superpower. Putin made agreements with China who is an economic superpower before invading Ukraine, so that he had economic support he desperately needed. In fact, that is all he needed.

And lastly, it is a dictatorial corrupt system, where politics is more important that performance, hence the idiot way the military has conducted itself and prepared itself.

Meanwhile, China wanted to watch all this to see how to handle Taiwan. They wanted Putin to do this, much like they are also the only reason North Korea exists.

China is at the root of all of these world dictators, as they use them as buffers against the West.

I don’t believe you have the facts right.

A significant number of fighters have been sent here via the southern border. We know because the border patrol has stopped some. We don't know what the purpose is.

The U.S. was mired in a hellhole in Afghanistan for a freaking decade. Russia is set to take Ukraine in about 6 months.

Russia suffered tremendous losses in manpower during WW2. Once WW2 was officially over the Russians realized that atomic weapons were the answer to winning a war with minimal losses/financial costs. From what I have read modern day Russia spends 70% of their military budget on nuclear weapons of all kinds along with variable payloads(Kilotons/megatons). In the event that a full scale WW3 breaks out Russia holds all the aces in the nuclear warhead delivery department(especially first strike). Take out the enemies communication satellites, power grid(dams/nuke power reactors), fleet(s) @ sea, a nations Capital city(s) & military bases & it's over for said nation. It sounds a tall order to achieve but a multi warhead ICBM launched from a SSBM(Submerged Ship Ballistic Missile) reaches it's targets in only six minutes!

The remaining 30% of Russia's military budget goes into it's conventional military, which could explain it's less than optimal performance on the battlefield. It is more than obvious that a full out WW3 will have precious little use for conventional forces of any kind as a WW3 could be over in one hour globally.

The Russian army is weak because we are told the Russian army is weak. We have no idea whether they are really weak. All we hear is carefully curated propaganda.
Obviously the russians are nuclear capable and not "weak".

That said I don't think they could even invade Afghanistan again with the same level of failure as a result. They may be able to bully weaker neighbors but it appears clear that once they're punched in the chin by the weaker country they can not hold territory very well like they did in the cold war.

Not that we are all that much better off. We can not occupy a country that wants us the fuck out, even after 20 years of ass kissing, free shit, and unbelievable restraint. This is not a world of peasants who barely scrape enough food together everyday just to survive at a minimal standard. We are not villagers who have to depend on a blacksmith to forge a blade or a pointy object in order to resist armored men on horses. We are a world of people who can kill entire squads of the world's finest infantry with household chemicals and guerilla hit and run tactics. All the air power, artillery and surgically accurate indirect fire ends up winning the fights but it's expensive and does not hold the territory. All the "Hearts and Minds" bullshit will never appease people who resent foreign occupation. If you can not keep boots on the ground because someone with an old bolt action 1898 Turkish Mauser keeps sniping away at your troops, you're going to lose the fight.

Period.

That said the chi-coms and the russians are not fuckin "friends". They've been two hostile people for hundreds of years and it was only the asinine idea of marxist bullshit that they even approached a warmed relationship. Russia dropped it altogether, except for the authoritarianism, as well as the Chi-coms for the most part but they pretend to be collectivist and egalitarian anyway. These two countries will come to conflict under the right circumstance and then the rise of India is an issue that the Chi Coms are concerned with.

At this point I'm almost more worried about a flood of canucks fleeing south to enjoy the 2A rights they might get when President DeSantis grants them amnesty in 2026.

2 decades.

I don't see how russia is going to hold territory in the Ukraine for much longer.

Bullshit....only someone terribly ignorant of the facts could say something so ridiculous.

We took very few casualties in Afghanistan .....compare that to how Russia has lost a third of its fighting force.

There were 2,448 United States military deaths in the War in Afghanistan. 1,921 of these deaths were the result of hostile action.

We dominated Afghanistan from the gitgo and could easily have stayed on if we had wanted.

It was a mistake to pull out and that is one reason I no longer support Trump for President.

I will support DeSantis, Hawley or Sen. Cotton.

Russia is not set to take anything but more casualties.....already their latest offensive has bogged down and the Ukrainians are on the attack.

You need to study up.

Most people fail to understand Russian army tactics.
They are not a blitzkrieg army like the Germans were. Their battle doctrine is to advance cautiously while using massive artillery barrages to pound enemy positions ahead of them. It takes longer to gain ground but their casualties stay low.

Russia has driven the Ukraine forces out of the Donbas region and is now focusing on southern Ukraine as it heads towards capturing the port city of Odessa.
Thus giving Russia total control of the northern coast of the Black Sea and denying Ukraine access to supply ships and making it a land locked country.

+1
This is not an inaccurate perception as I understand the facts of the matter.

I don't agree with the sheep shagging mother fucker all the time, but he appears to be right from all the intel I can gather.

It only took us a couple weeks to take over Afghanistan.

It also only took us a couple weeks to take over Iraq.

Russia's effort to take over Ukraine has already failed and been abandoned.
Exactly. We conquered those shitholes in no time, but could not hold them, no matter how nice we were.
