Dead people do not have any freedoms. Besides the 3,000 on 9/11, what about the 5,000 in Iraq, the 60,000 in Viet Nam, and those still being killed in Afghanistan? Dead people have 6 feet of dirt on top of them, and that's it.
Exactly They gave up their freedoms in the effort of ensuring the freedoms of American freedoms. All gave some. Some gave all.
The ones that died on 9/11 didn't give up anything for freedom. They died because two planes hit the towers. Some of them never knew what happened. The 60,000 that died in Viet Nam, died because they were told to go there and fight the North Viet Cong. There was no freedom to fight and die for. They died under orders to go fight to help South Viet Nam. Freedom wasn't even in the picture in Viet Nam. 5,000 died in Iraq because they were victims of terrorists acts. They were sent to Iraq to fight terrorism in the Middle East. Our freedom here in America was never in question, nor was a question. The same in Afghanistan. Viet Nam, Iraq, and Afghanistan were or are political wars. They are diplomatic wars. Our soldiers are not fighting for freedom anywhere in the world at this point. Iraq and Afghanistan have absolutely nothing to do with our freedom here. They haven't threatened our freedom. Not once have the terrorists in Iraq or in Afghanistan threatened our freedom here in America.
We no longer fight war as war. If we did, Viet Nam was have lasted a week instead of 15 years. Iraq would have lasted a week instead of 15 years. Afghanistan would have lasted a week instead of the on-going BS that we're still doing over there. Modern wars are diplomatic/political wars, and not war as war should be. We sacrifice human lives instead of using the technology, Hi-Tech weaponry, and other means available in the 20th and 21st centuries. Human lives have no value when governments can sit around a table and use diplomacy and play politics to solve issues. Our men and women of the armed forces are not fighting for freedom or democracy. They're fighting terrorists because our government told them to.
If terrorists really wanted to do us harm, they could very easily. Our borders are open, our ports are open, and every day, people cross our borders without papers, without anyone noticing them, and without being stopped. We may have terrorists already here. We do not have security from terrorism. Fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan doesn't protect our borders, nor our infrastructure here at home. Besides, we pulled out of Viet Nam, did the "cut and run" routine, did the same in Iraq, and more than likely will do the same in Afghanistan. That tells you that we're not really fighting to fight and win, nor to rid the world of the bad guys. No one's freedom is at stake. It's all politics and diplomacy.
Who gained freedom due to Viet Nam? Who gained freedom due to Iraq? What freedom have we established in Afghanistan? How many countries have we established freedom in? How many countries have we established democracy in? At what point was our freedom in danger? Was North Viet Nam a danger to our freedom? Was Iraq a danger to our freedom? Is Afghanistan a danger to our freedom? Can terrorists attack us at any time? Is it possible that terrorists are already here on American soil? Are we fighting the terrorists in Africa? Are we fighting the terrorists in Southeast Asia? Why aren't we? We know that they train in North Africa. We know that they train in Southeast Asia.
No one has given up their freedom to fight and die unless they wanted to. Everyone that died in Iraq and in Afghanistan, went their of their own free will. They didn't give up freedom, they gave up their lives. They weren't fighting here on American soil because we were being attacked here at home. And, they certainly haven't prevented us from being attacked. We could be attacked at any minute.
