That's it? OK. Good talking to you.The Federal Government has done mean things like enforcing Civil Rights, rights of the handicapped and school safety.
Bastards….how dare they?
States with large recently arrived immigrant populations need to tailor curriculums to those demographics.
i have no problem educating youThat's it? OK. Good talking to you.
Aren't you an ESL teacher? Not really.
There's no need for federal control of education.
Aren't you an ESL teacher?
And those "grants" always have strings attached, hoops to jump through, requirements to be met. The government takes money from us in the form of taxes, and then gives it back - but only if we do as we're told. That's control. There is no federal control general primary education.
They do supply funds through grants for low income schools to help fund teachers in poor communities and provide some funding for Special Education needs. The feds are not in control of general education.
They should have ZERO inputEducation is controlled by local school boards according to state legislation.
The Federal Govt has very little input
That's a major curriculum change for schools across the country that never needed it before, and at great cost.Yes.
That's a major curriculum change for schools across the country...
How about cultural support within the curriculum, and doesn't that fly in the face of assimilation?Language support, including bilingual education stretches back to the Colonial Era.
They should have ZERO input
School segregation in public schools is a Constitutional violation. There's no need for a federal bureaucracy to combat it. Just the Court. When they had zero input we got things like school segregation
Segregation completely eliminates racism in those schools. Also this,When they had zero input we got things like school segregation
How about voluntary segregation?School segregation in public schools is a Constitutional violation. There's no need for a federal bureaucracy to combat it. Just the Court.
Oh it's not because they already tax us for education and then, city schools pass levies to pay for new facilitiesFor the Historically atrophied Left, the entire department, a well as the Cabinet level position were both formed in 1978 by Jimmah Cahtah as payola to the NEA and teachers' unions nationwide for their 1976 endorsement. Since then, Educational performance has been circling the toilet bowl with no end in sight.
Ebonics, Outcome-Based Education, Common Core, NCLB, etc. Standards keep right on getting lowered and lowered. Now with the uptick in homeschooling, charter school enrollment (bear in mind Charters are very much public schools, but with much higher standards for both student AND teacher accountability), and the push for vouchers (which BTW I support), the Left has a boogeyman-school choice. Both the Education department AND Cabinet level Secretary need to be shitcanned and full 100% control of the schools need to be returned to the local and state level.
Voluntary is voluntary. I don't condone it, but if people want to hide in their bubbles, that's up them. How about voluntary segregation?
New facility requests are usually subject to referendums.Oh it's not because they already tax us for education and then, city schools pass levies to pay for new facilities
