Well, I did not see anywhere Jesus saying that you take somebody else's money and be do gooder. The funny part is that liberals "do good" with other people's confiscated money while you are thinking they take care of the poor they are actually buying votes. It is all about power, they do not give a rat's ass about the poor.

I've been saying it for years. If the GOP told the Religious Right to piss off, stopped going on and on about bedrooms and sins and abortions, and just stuck to economics and foreign policy they'd beat the Dems every day of the week and twice on Sundays. But everytime they get going, one of them runs his mouth about God and drives women away.

Superficially that sounds reasonable, but look how well Rand Paul did in their primaries.

There are two problems with that statement though.

First, Rand is not much of a centrist. The country is not going to take a hard turn - we are going to get there in steps. Second, you mention the primaries and that is the core problem. The primaries are dominated by a very small and very active crowd - normally the most viciously partisan people in the party in general. In that group - the primary voters - the moral police are over-represented.

Unfortunately for the right, that group forces them to pander to the moralists and then when the general rols around they get obliterated. It is a serious problem within the right that they need to address but I have no idea how they can.
