Why don't you want to tax the rich?

With all income taxable, especially unearned income?
Unearned income is already taxed its income. You pay taxes on dividends and capital gains. You pay taxes on realized income

If you have done the research, then you can tell us - otherwise, you're just telling him to "look it up".
I have presented the facts to conservatives for many decades, complete with visual aids. They either don't understand or pretend not to. The only thing they know about Adam Smith is the "invisible hand" out of context. They don't understand the difference in unearned and earned income. They don't understand the difference between regressive and progressive taxes. And most don't understand why the rich should pay higher taxes than the poor.
If they want to know, they will find it.

250 years and counting

I don’t want some 18th century slave holding aristocrat dictating how a 21st century super power should function
Really? They gave you away to amend it, it’s been done numerous times, including ending slavery

Some of it is taxed, but at a lesser rate than earned income. Long term capital gains are taxed at a lower rate and so are "qualified" dividends. And there are no payroll taxes on unearned income.

If you are opposed, why?

Why do you oppose aggressive taxation of people making more than $250,000+ a year or $400,000+ a year annually?
The rich pay taxes... they pay the largest percentage of taxes.... but...
I want them to invest their money so we can enjoy jobs with benefits like health care and retirement....
And we can afford good roads etc... from the taxes everyone pays via employment...
That's how its always been and how it works best for all...

Now why do you want them to pay even more????

why would I??

if they earned their money legally then its theirs not ours,,

they already pay the majority of taxs,, maybe have the people that pay nothing step up and get a job and be a benefit to society not a burden,,
Sigh, this is a nation. It is not 3.4 million "individual" islands. As such, everyone needs to participate in the health of the nation (from an economic view).

In addition, most people that got rich here in the U.S. did it because the live here (not some other country) and they got the opportunity to get rich by selling to other Americans and as such, each should participate more of their income according to what they make. You know, the "team effort" to be able to win the Superbowl (which no one person can win it by themselves).

Do I also need to remind that when this nation was the most united and doing well (for all of its citizens) was back in the 50's-70's when the rich were paying a larger percentage than they do now?

Then again and according to your post, you evidently care only about yourself and care nothing for the nation. You are simply using our nation for your purposes!

In simple words, you are not a patriot!

You need to be clear.
You mean the rich should pay higher tax rates.
Its not unearned income its unrealized income. All income is taxed unless a tax free investment is involved.
The basic error in your thinking is that you dont include the governments control of wealth which is the real problem.
The rich create opportunity and government takes our money away.
As the rich get richer so do the rest of us
As the government gets more we all get less.
Its very simple. more government mean we the people all have less

We should have a flat-rate tax like Russia has.

The money used for unearned income has already been taxed.

Explain how treating every taxpayer exactly the same on every dollar earned is unfair.

No one I have ever known who presented a serious plan for a flat tax has wanted to tax all income the same.
I'll try to write up something to explain it to you. You might not be the same as other conservatives I've discussed this with. I usually feel like I'm casting pearls before swine.
Just go look up the problems with a flat tax. You can read.

Because raising anyone's taxes is a fools errand. Everyone rich or poor is taxed too much already

government spending needs to be cut
Fool's errand? Explain that statement.

One question for you "do you believe that we need to work as a team, in order to have our country healthy for all...............or just for the few that have the ability or opportunity to get rich (**** the rest of Americans)"?

The government getting rich is the problem not people getting rich

Non answer.

Try again.

Explain how treating everyone the same isn't "fair".:auiqs.jpg::auiqs.jpg::auiqs.jpg:
