If only we could be more like Russia. . .

The competition between Russia and the U.S. goes far beyond guns and bombs and territory. It's about actual societal culture. There are things about us which is superior to them. There are things about them which are superior to us. Neither side wants their people to know this. Basically they teach as many impressionable dumbasses as possible that the other side is more far more backward and corrupt than they are. This is one area the U.S. truly excels. The real battle is over the happiness of people, not land or military might. Back in the late 90's/early 2000's I worked with a few Russians in NY who said that money was the only thing that brought them to the U.S., but other than that they would prefer to live in Russia, hands down. It goes beyond money. There have been many cases of members of American minorites leaving the U.S. for Russia. That's because they are treated more as equals there, or at least that was true during the height of the battle for civil rights. And look up which country put a woman in space first and allowed women to serve proudly in the military.

Both Russia and the U.S. have dabbled in things that have brought those countries to despair and the brink of collapse. Our country is nearly there too it just took us longer. And maybe that's NOT a good thing.

I want to use taxes as a way to fund the government.

A flat tax is regressive because it's a bigger burden on the poor. That's because they spend their money on necessities.
