I saw the thread, and the hogwash answers and constant JFK references (he asked why YOU thought that way, not why someone else did) and that thread captured nearly perfectly why left wing progressive liberals are in fact liberals.

Why? Because someone else told them so. Seriously. You want the root of progressive liberals? They were told to do it.

By a professor, a friend, Al Gore, someone, whoever, in their past told them this was the way. Liberal ideals have always failed. Short term or long term, they always end in trouble. So, unlike conservative values which almost always work despite being harder to adhere to sometimes, liberal ideals must be believed in faith. In theory. So, someone else tells them they must think this way else they are racist, bigots, insensitive, ignorant, unenlightened, etc, etc.

Much of it is college brainwashing. Some is Gore/Obama idol worship. Some is good ole liberal guilt. Some watched Bill Maher growing up. Some were raised by former 60's hippy parents. But liberals think how they think because simply someone at some point told them and convinced them this was right.

Just look at all the JFK references in that thread. They had no clue what to say, but JFK told them something, so they cling to it. Global Warming? Cling to Al Gore. Healthcare? Again, cling to Clinton, Marx, George Bernard Shaw, all people who preached in theory of it's greatness. They were told they MUST care, must be compassionate, must be non-racist, must be tolerant to all.

I tell ya, liberals would function very very well in a strong nationalist dictatorship where they are constantly told how and what to think, do, wear, work, eat, etc. Thats why they sympathize with far left regimes like Cuba, China, the USSR, and softer socialist nations like France, Italy, Greece.

As long as someone is telling them how to think, act, eat, work, etc, they're OK. But yeah, to answer the question, liberals have all been convinced through speech by someone that their ideals are in fact the right ones, thus, they are faithful to it. After all, did you not see all the liberals faces in awe of Obama's speeches and screenings of Inconvenient Truth, both of which turned out to be full of lies?

Until EVERY SINGLE NATION ON EARTH agrees to binding verified clean ups, with stiff punishments including military action, we should do nothing.
