why do some believe religion over science

What a silly drama queen. The Establishment Clause infuriates christian religious extremists because it protects the public schools from the very worst of the fundies and their wish to force their particular dogma where it doesn't belong.

Come now. It's the ACLU that has threatened to sue the schools if creation science was taught. It isn't illegal to teach creation science in public schools.

That said, the ACLU doesn't have the funds to pull it off. Thus, creation science can be implemented in public schools.

Ah, but the smug, sanctimonious atheist will reply, "But science has a self-correcting mechanism" as if this were profound. In fact, it is trivial to the point of absurdity because every animal and even every plant also has a "self-correcting mechanism." It's called trial and error.
When one method of feeding or survival is not working, animals change their behavior. Plants send out roots and branches on the same "self-correcting" basis.

Smug atheists never think about their ignorant Talking Points. They simply blather them and then smile, as if victorious.

When my daughter had an appendectomy, she returned for a visit. The surgeon removed her bandage and it was green with smelly pus. All he did was put on a fresh bandage, without even bothering to wipe the pus off.

I objected, "This is little better than trepanation!" He replied, "No it isn't."
But she recovered fully and uneventfully. The pus we saw was insignificant compared to the pus that was still inside her peritoneal cavity. But she was taking antibiotics of course, so......

Ignorant religious extremists never actually think about their helpless gods. Why would anyone trust their health to atheist science and medicine when prayer to the gods would be just as effective in curing an appendectomy or any other illness? Any bacterial infection can be cured with prayer. You just need to pray to the correct gods who specialize in curing that particular realm of disease. Evilutionist atheist science does not cure bacterial infection as the bacteria evolve to become antibiotic resistant, noooo, it's the fault of the gods who are just too busy or just don't care.

Seeking evilutionist atheist medical care is really quite an admission by the religious extremist that their faith is actually weak and conditional and that their gods can't be trusted.

Actually, it is illegal for xtians to proselytize in the public school system. After decades of xtian Taliban lies and falsehoods using ID'iot creationer nonsense as a burqa for their religious dogma, the xtian Taliban have run out of lies and falsehoods.

Actually, it was illegal for the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT to take over Community School Systems. And actually when the CHARTER SCHOOL SYSTEM was proposed ---- liberal organizations attacked the idea, as it would remove the power from their hands...

You know very little about medicine. The fact remains that most people on medication take multiple pills that often create more problems then they "heal". It is easier to prescribe drugs and prescribe drugs to counteract the complications, than it is to deal with an issue.

Because that was just a ruse for white flight and for sneaking jesus into schools on the taxpayer dime. And this is exactly what it has become. And in States like mine where people like Mike Pence become the leader, it has amounted to a way for conmen to embezzle taxpayer money.

Actually, it is illegal for public school systems to allow religious indoctrination.

Have you heard of the Establishment Clause?

Engel v. Vitale (1962) and Abington School District v. Schempp (1963)

This pair of cases shaped the modern understanding of how the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment constrains prayer in public schools. In Engel, the Court struck down a New York State rule that allowed public schools to hold a short, nondenominational prayer at the beginning of the school day. The Court decided that these prayers amounted to an “official stamp of approval” upon one particular kind of prayer and religious service, and said that, since teachers are agents of the federal government, the scheme violated the Establishment Clause

I know enough about medicine to know that medical science works, praying for relief or a cure does not. I can't help but notice that among the more extreme religionists in these threads, it was his choice to seek medical science to address an appendectomy and not prayer.

When has prayer to any of the gods cured a disease? Any verified accounts you can link to?

Nipper please stop feeding the trolls. They are NEVER satisfied with any facts or science offered.
They smugly proclaim victory and intellectual superiority without offering any facts to back up their mendacity.

Physicians have long known that mental attitude is critical in surviving trauma and critical illnesses. Critical. Anyone who claims otherwise is a hateful, malicious liar.

Moreover, medical doctors kill 250,000 to 400,000 patients every year through malpractice.
Should we ban doctors since they kill many more Americans than those mean old "assault rifles"?

The thing is....the One True God was first. After the Flood, noah's descendants dispersed going further and further forgetting much of the truth of the matter but retaining enough that they knew the truth but it was polluted along the way as they moved away from God. It's amazing how similar the stories are but they miss a lot...with satan's help...the new gods made by man's hands/OR the heavens or animals or whatever, were worshipped instead of the The God of Abraham.

Get a grip on yourself. There is No God and never has been. You've been conned and are still delusional.
Not one of you people can produce one sceric of evidence to support that. Not one but you spray that rubbish around as if it is legislated. Grow up.

You poor, dear. You're too inept to actually defend your specious opinions so you hide behind walls of cut and paste text.

Care to explain why you sought medical care from those evilutionist atheist doctors as opposed to 'prayer to your gods'' for a cure? You obviously abandoned your gods. That seems cowardly and hypocritical. Are you acknowledging your gods are not to be trusted for curing disease?

why do some people believe religion instead of science
The irony of the explanation is that you have to have an open mind and consider possibilities beyond your comprehension. Yes, there are many things that religious people believe in by faith and faith alone, even when science has a proven explanation. They are arrogant in outright dismissing science that literally slaps them in the face. But, the reverse is also true. There are some pretty damned unexplainable things. It is arrogant to think that absolutely everything has a scientific explanation. That means your mind is completely closed to any other explanation but a scientific one. Consider these questions, which may only be explained by having a "God":

1. When did the universe begin?

2. If it began with the Big Bang about 13 billion years ago, then what was here before? There had to be something here before. OK, maybe we are caught in a continual loop where we have a big bang eventually followed by a contraction and the cycle just keeps repeating itself over and over. But, maybe it didn't. Maybe there was a "God" in the virtual nothingness and "he" decided to create a universe so one instant there was nothing and the next instant there was something.

3. Why does the universe expand at an ever faster rate?

4. Where does the universe end? Everything comes to an end. It has to. It can't go on indefinitely. But, if it ends then what is beyond that? There has to be something else at the end of something. And what is beyond that, and that, and that? It can't go on indefinitely. It has to end somewhere. But, it can't because there is ALWAYS something beyond the last thing. There has to be.

Do you even have the faintest clue, or even a guess, the answers to these questions? Maybe our minds are just too stupid to even think about what the answer is. Or, maybe the answer is simply, there IS a God.

The left are just as guilty as the right in having closed minds. Maybe the explanation is both. Maybe the religious take things on faith that are explainable by science AND maybe there really is a God that those on the other side are too arrogant to comprehend and accept.

It's very possible that God is the ultimate scientist.

It is abundantly clear that God invented matter, energy, correspondence, beauty, the universe.

The Anthropic Principle provides insuperable statistical proof of His Design.
Hateful atheists (but I repeat myself) offer up *Multiverses* as their alternative to His Design.
Decades ago, the universe was "too big, too wasteful" for the Designer to trouble himself with just for humanity. Now they have taken the opposite and even more absurd extreme and claim, with supposedly straight faces, that there is an infinite number of universes. Anything to avoid the patently obvious.
