Can religion REALLY predict your VOTE?

Making excuses and trying to turn doubt into a good thing!

Can it be applied to Noah's ark nonsense?
Do Christians 'doubt' that the dinosaurs heads stuck out the roof, instead of giraffe necks?
If you reject the notion that the universe is only 6 thousand years old without rejecting the literal Hebrew writings of Genesis, then that takes care of the dino question, doesn't it.

The dino's died off long before the Great Flood

Wait..............wut?

No Christian suggests that there is anything in the Bible that is literally true?

Science has proven that some of what is written is literal truth.

For example, there is no other historical source for recording the existence of the Phillistines.
There's no evidence to say that it's truel
The bibles are proven to be mostly 'allegorical' and so it can't be trusted as evidence of truth.
If there's no historical source then that's the message to deal with.
The Bible is the only historical source for this. So, Biblical Archaeologists read about them in scripture, and started to dig where the Bible described them as living and found them.
Biblical Archaeologists?
Funny that.
Sad, not funny when it's not peer reviewed science!
And no, Biblical Archaeology is not a fundy cult religion. They are simply scientists who have recognized that the veracity of the Bible is reliable enough to use as a source to find digs.
Literal truth in the bibles has never been established. Now let's get back to the Noah's ark story.
As for believing Biblical stories like Jesus' walking on water, is there a God or isn't there?

Accepting the walk on the water is allegory and it's accepted as that by true believers.
If there is, miracles are gonna happen. In fact, the beginning of the universe and then later the beginning of life itself is a miracle that demands explained.
The theories are explained by science, but as with the 'god' theories, they're still theories. The difference is that science's theories on the age of the earth is backed up by mountains of evidence.

There is no question that society has become increasingly secularized in the US.

Why do you think that is and why does that then prompt the nonbelievers to vote "D"?
.

More and more people are leaning away from God and towards the other guy. The other guy takes them off the hook of religious rigor.

The dem side encourages them to live the way the devil wants them to live. And now, more and more of the Catholic church encourages the same thing.

Can't speak for any other denominations because I don't care enough to learn what they think.

.

Definitely.

What you teach children will automatically lead to such beliefs within society.

That is just common sense.
Is teaching children the fable of Noah's ark common sense?

NO! But the children under 6 usually have no counter proposal. Leave them alone until they're 12 and they'll teach the adult literal believers the truth.

Interpret the bible stories whatever way you think is the truth. Make the earth as old as you like! But get ready for the answers you get from science.
Let's take the science of dimensions, for instance. The ones Hawking decided were out there. Scientists finally figured there were at least 10 of them. 4 seen and 6 unseen. Genesis told Maimonides the same thing almost a thousand years ago. And while science has yet to figure dimensions out, God told us all about them. Still waiting on science to learn that dimensions can be stretched, burnt up, torn, rolled up like a scroll...
And how about that orb? Job knew the shape of the earth, while science taught they would fall off the earth at it's edge.

There is a ton of science that confirms the authenticity of Christ's existence via the Shroud of Turin. And I'm surprised to learn that so many of the scientists that are working on this are not religious.

Yes, the Catholic church has backslid into accepting Darwinian evolution.

No, accepting most of the bible as allegory is not believing in the 'other' guy!

The shroud of Turin?

Let's try to be serious!

And let's stop trying to deflect away from the Noah's ark story! Is that one true too?

^Well, that is bullshit. Just the opposite is true. The Bible is proving itself to be quite literal and historically accurate. For instance, archaeology and the Bible proved that there actually was a King David.
Tell me about the "scientific" bombshell, that there just might be 10 + dimensions. Now that science has made it that far, shall we tell them what dimensions can do, according to the Bible, or do we need to wait another 1,000 years before science figures it out?

Is this when you quietly slip out the back door?

So far I'm impressed that this thread has been allowed to exist!

Slipping out the back door is becoming the alternative for the literal believers.

Accepting the Noah's ark story as allegorical, is not turning to Satan. Most modern churches find it acceptable.

The world's largest Christian church even accepts Darwin!

I think from the interaction so far, the answer is obvious.

Science has been used to belittle those of faith and is pushed as such in public education.

Add to that the intolerance for so much as a prayer in school, and what you wind up with is an entire generation told essentially that there is no God, fed continuously while in public education that has led to a secularized society

Science today is constantly being fed as "the answer" to all our ills, while the Bible has a different message which can be seen in the story of the Garden of Eden. In that story, you had a tree called the tree of "knowledge" that mankind craved, but was told that partaking of it by himself without direction was forbidden. But man lusted after the knowledge anyway, and then partook of that knowledge apart from God and fell from grace becoming the first official sin of mankind.

But is knowledge bad? No, not if wisdom is used with it, which God represents in that story.

Knowledge without wisdom brings death is the message, but those not of faith belittle the story as stupid, even though we see examples of this truth every day.

Now for my theory on why the Left trashes the Bible 24/7 and why they are predominantly atheists.

Politics and religion are very similar in that both address how people should think and act. What is "good" for society vs what is "bad" for society are addressed, and how to go about this.

In a way, both could be labeled a religion even though the one may not believe in a God.

Therefore, if a political ideology wants to be promoted within society, it must attack all other competing ideologies. Christianity is the prominent opposition to the Left, which is why it is the number one target.

Of course, the Left allows "christians" like Joe Biden who claims to be Catholic be on their team so long as he refuses to condemn the Left for doing anything wrong or believing anything wrong. In fact, the DNC platform is full of more truth that the Bible itself and perfect in every way.

Well said.

Left cultism is very much a religion.
