Why do some Americans believe they single handedly won WW2?

It was your colony ffs and definitely a sideshow of little consequence, besides which the "British" soldiers were Indians anyway.
Some were men of the British Indian army people some racist trash look down on, there were also the chindits spacial forces.

Our guys did the bulk of the work against Japan. In Europe it was primarily the USSR who defeated The Germans. Germany had been weakened at Stalingrad by the time we went toe to toe.

No one disputes that, taking those Jap held Islands was hell on earth.

“If in 10 years, all American troops stationed in Europe for national defense purposes have not been returned to the United States, then this whole project [NATO] will have failed.”-General of the Army Dwight Eisenhower, February, 1951

Wrong. All the Soviets did was to kill most of the German Heer. The WAllies killed most of the Luftwaffe, almost all of the Kriegsmarine, and ALL of the Japanese except for the demoralized and almost helpless Japanese army in Manchuria. All the USSR did was to defend itself when its ally invaded it while extorting endless supplies and money from the WAllies.

wrong in the 30's the Soviet Union aided Germany avoid restrictions placed by the ww1 treaty. Aircraft and pilot training and delivering parts in boxes marked farm equipment. Learn a little History.
The Soviet Union (as well as the USA, England and France) was trading (and had more or less mutually profitable relations) with Germany since 1918. Both sides saw post-WWI world order as unjustful and unacceptable. It wasn't our responsibility to keep Germany in line. It was responsibility of the WWI winners. And because those winners have been more prone to be in cahoots with Germany and use it against "Russian threat" ("Strong Germany means strong Europe") and against each other - it came to what it came. In 1933 Soviet trade with Germany fell to almost zero.
Russia suggested mutually acceptable system of collective safety in Europe. And this system, based on alliance Soviet Union, Czechoslovakia, France and Britain even worked in spring of 1938. But, we know, France and Britain decided to play Germany against Russia (and Czechoslovakia).

I neglected the CBI which was almost exclusively Commonwealth troops, mostly Indian and African.

Stop lying about Hitler being an ally of the Soviets, talking of allies i believe the ford plant was still operating in Germany through the war using slave labour, same with Coca Cola and IBM.

According to the orange Buffoon he has won everything.
The US was the arsenal of democracy, and responsible for keeping many countries in the fight.
But every victory wasn't accomplished on our own.
D-day wouldn't have never suceedd.

The June 6, 1944, D-Day invasion
Nearly 160,000 Allied troops landed in Normandy on June 6, 1944. Of those, 73,000 were from the United States and 83,000 from Britain and Canada.
supported by troops and personnel from many other Allied nations, including France, Australia, Belgium, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Greece, New Zealand, Czechoslovakia, and South Africa

Wrong, Hitler and Stalin were allies. Germany and the USSR were allied during the thirties to avoid the restrictions of the Versailles Treaty. Ford of Germany and Opel were separate companies from Ford and General Motors of the USA. IBM in Germany was a subsidiary to International Business machines that was based in the USA. IBM was actually formed in Germany before being sold to US owners. You act like the US headquarters directly operated European subsidiaries and they didn't. The subsidiaries operated under local control and obeyed local laws.

Correct, and my Uncle was one of them, he landed with the 7th battalion Green Howards on Gold Beach, he was killed a few days later beween Bayeux and Caen, i did some research on him, the battalions mission was to cut the road between the Bayeux area to stop the Germans bringing more troops in to engage us in the Caen area, he was killed with seven other men from his battalion they are all burried together in the military cemetery in Bayeux, he was only 17 years old, i always wanted to visit his grave and did a couple of years ago, but you are right it was a huge combined operation including several Nations.

They invaded Poland with the Germans and agreed to split Eastern Europe between them. The Germans couldn’t have invaded Western Europe without Soviet food, steel, coal, oil and other supplies. During Barbarossa, the German Heer units passed Soviet trains headed west into Germany loaded with supplies to feed the German war machine. So yes, Germany and the USSR were allies until Germany turned on the Soviets,

Up until 1940 Hitler and Stalin WERE allies.

Facts matter.

Facts do matter, and the fact is the Soviets signed a non aggression pact with the Germans in 1939 after the West failed to sign a anti Nazi pact with the Soviets, that isn't being a ally, you could say the Brits were allies after Chamberlain came back from Munich in 1938 after signing a deal with Hitler that sold Czechoslovakia down the river that was not worth the toilet paper it was written on.
