Why do so many Liberals become journalist?

It is in my humble opinion that most of the media is Liberal. Actually most polls you see of journalists show that 80 to 90 percent of them are Liberal/Democrat. My mom told me not long ago that she read in the paper that there was a poll among journalism students in college asking "Why did you get into journalism?" The answer from most of them was "to change the world". Now,it has always been my belief that unless they are a commentator like O'Reilly or being paid to give their opinion like Hannity and Colmes,that journalists are supposed to report the news,the facts. So if they are truly doing their job,unbiased and fairly,how are they going to change the world without throwing their opinion into the news to make it sound or be what they want you to think? This is the complete opposite of what they are supposed to be doing. All this leads me to my question-why are so many in the media Liberal and why do most of stink at what they do?

Youthful idealism is a wonderful thing. Unfortunately, these eager youngsters are getting their information from universities which have been enclaves of rabid liberal socialism since the 1950's. These factories turn out good little Democrats like widgets from an assembly line.

Once these starry-eyed crusaders hit the job market, they enter a world, not of honest, dispassionate journalism, but of adversarial propagandizing.

Sadly, there's very little we can do. Just have to keep our BS detectors in good working order, and vote with our remotes.

I recall reading an artical on that subject - the reporters wanted to change the world - their way.
I also think that spending your years in school - followed by years of college does not put you in the most realistic world. I know many who spend years in school and know sqat of anything. They know book figures and book answers but the real world?

I guess I never thought about just how much of it comes from the colleges. Good point. Iwas listening to a local talk show today on the radio and he was talking about an interview with Condi Rice done by one of the elite media...I believe it was Ed Bradley. The question started out something like this

Ed-"Everyone knows that the Bush administration has a stranglehold on the media,is this why you have given interviews to CBS,60 minutes etc,.. and not talked to the 9-11 commission?"

Now what kind of horsesh!t is that?!! The Bush administration has a stranglehold on the media?You gotta be kidding! We all know those stinkin jerks say whatever they want about Bush in whatever manner they want-whether it's true or not. They are so full of it.
