I see here and elsewhere people who otherwise identify and conservative or Republican or both. Yet if you asked them even 9 months ago, would you support a life long Democrat who favors single payer healthcare, favors use of eminent domain for private gain, favors abortion, and has never held office they would answer a resounding NO.
And yet here they are supporting Trump, who is all those things and more. A man with professed intentions to commit war crimes, an idiot on foreign policy, a serial adulterer, a man who plays footsie with racists.
How to explain this?
For the first time in 5 1/2 years, I agree with everything in a Rabbi post.
Unlike Trump supporters that have claimed repeatedly that they were true conservatives, Rabbi has stayed the course of being a true conservative, unlike the weak-minded fakes who have shown they have zero convictions.
So, in the end, I have clashed with Rabbi and I don't like him at all, I think he's a dickhead, but I respect his convictions.
Understood, but where do we go from here? There are very few choices.
Asking this question about Trump was more valid when there were still a dozen or so candidates in the race. But now we are down to two. Who else can we support if we don't like Trump? Hillary? Sanders?
Since Ronald Reagan, I can't think of a time where I was happy with our candidate. The people I wanted to represent our party never made it to the finish line. You have to learn to live with these things.
Yet, I supported them because I knew of the disaster that would take place by ushering in a Democrat. I know what they stand for, and anytime Democrats get leadership, it costs me money, liberty or both.
