From a science point of view, it can be interesting to look at the variables. The first that jumps out is that the Egyptians worshiped Rams as their chief god, and it appears other images were also seen as gods. From later on in Exodus, it appears some of the Hebrews were also considering making their own god. Eventually, in America, some slaves began worshiping God.

I was listening to someone comment on Euro jealously toward Jews leading up to WWII

He pointed out that for centuries Jews were not allowed to own land, which was the primary source of wealth before the Industrial Revolution

That forced Jews to become expert in fields involving money transactions

And that gave them an advantage over the Christians in the new economy
