Putin NOW reminds me of G.W. Bush in 2003. He used dubious premises to invade Iraq, no WMD's or ties to 9/11 terrorist. Convinced goddamn just about everyone we HAD to do it. Despite all the evidence. History is repeating itself. There was no reason to invade...

Putin CLAIMED ...NATO was encroaching on Russia, the so called civil war of Russian-Ukrainians fighting fighting to "reunite" with Russia...Ukraine was part of Russia, yadda yadda. So, What the hell is really going on here?

Here's the thing no one else will tell you about: war is only acceptable to the global powers that be if they approve it first.

The other thing about war is only certain nations are sanctioned to engage in it. The United States is one such nation, as are NATO Alliance members. Russia, China, North Korea, well, they are permitted small wars, such as those waged against terror cells and insurgents, but anything large scale? Not so much. Russia is paying the penalty as we speak for waging unauthorized war.

Lastly, in our day and age government is worshipped as God and world government leaders see themselves as deities. Anyone who dares use violence—for any reason, other than violence they approve of—will be smacked down and put in their place. This goes for nations as well as individuals.

Look at all these self-proclaimed modern flower children who spew nothing but peace and love all over social media but then change on the fly into Russia hating warmongers almost as if switches had been thrown in their brains. COVID-19 was made possible by a mass formation of billions of brainwashed people around the world. Now, a new mass formation has been assembled with billions of people ready to send money to the Ukrainians and donate bullets and beans for use in slaughtering "evil" Russian soldiers.

Make no mistake . . . the United Nations loves war and those who wage it . . . but only if the UN preapproves the conflict.

IMHO, the main reason why Putin invaded Ukraine was because he ultimately wants to restore the old Soviet Union the way it used to be, with satellite countries surrounding it. Ukraine has been trying to enter NATO for their own national security, obviously for good reason. And Putin knows that if that happens then his dream of resurrecting the USSR is impossible. What we've got here is basically Hitler 2.0.

It's kind of stupid IMHO, Europe needs Russia's oil and gas and they don't want any trouble at all. They've got a symbiotic relationship going, and for their part the EU has no intention of screwing it up. So, there's no way NATO would ever invade Russia, unless maybe Russia makes it necessary to do so.

Not an expert here ...but may be it runs on the same line than this other crisis in the early 60s...

It's the Cuban missile crisis in reverse...big similarities there!

History repeats itself! The USA in 1962 didn't like Russian missiles so close to the country. And yes, who would??

The same is happening in reverse.

So far as I know, the only missiles that Ukraine has are short range anti-tank and anti-aircraft missiles that are mostly small enough for individual soldiers to carry. Soldiers basically point and shoot the missiles at targets they see, good for only a few miles. They are not a threat to Russia like the missiles in Cuba were to us, those were ballistic missiles that were capable of carrying nuclear warheads deep inside the US. In Ukraine's case, they gave up their nuclear weapons in 1994.
