Why aren’t the politicians talking about one of the greatest issues facing America. The Obesity rate and our unhealthy population

I've been saying the problem of obesity is a 5 star fire alarm issue for many years. But really- how much do you want to regulate the foods we eat, how much, what kind, when...Do we prosecute parents if their child is out of the government approval levels for weight?

We're already regulated and controlled to death in this country and the only thing we can guarantee is when the gubbmint steps in to "fix" something- it's going to be a clusterfuck.

Why aren’t the politicians talking about one of the greatest issues facing America. The Obesity rate and our unhealthy population

Because the government isn't there to tell us how to eat

MAYBE it’s because there are more pressing issues; Illegal Immigration, No Bail , Sanctuary Cities, the economy, Boys being allowed in girls locker rooms and sports teams, etc etc
EXACTLY do you want the Government to do about it? In this day and ago Nutritional info is on all products. Do you have to be a genius to know to stay away from sweets, fried foods, learn portion control, etc etc?

The most pressing issue is our federal government is unhinged. It is a criminal enterprise as it ignores the law of the land on the regular.

Good cause OP.

Where do you think is the best place to start?
Oprah, telling Americans that they have no control over what they eat and just to take the drug Ozempic for life cuz obesity is a mental disorder.

Don't question her, just take the drug for life and call it a day.

Take a look at this wonderful, delicious and healthy spread I got at a restaurant in Cambodia. Quail eggs in the second picture a very strong source of protein and other health benefits.

But go to the USA in every major city especially the inner cities… you got a Kentucky fried chicken and McDonald’s on every street corner

According to data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, more than 2 in 5 adults are obese, and nearly 1 in 5 children are obese. Furthermore, 19 states in America have obesity rates over 35 percent, increased from 16 states just last year. A decade ago, no states had obesity rates above 35 percent! Obesity is linked to a number of health ailments, including diabetes, heart disease, stroke, and a number of cancers such as breast and colorectal. If that wasn’t enough, the annual medical cost of obesity was nearly 173 billion dollars in 2019 alone.

You can't tell Americans how to eat healthy. Look at Trump. He's a walking testimony to greed and gluttony, but 30% of Americans worship him.

LOL!

Couldn't resist an Orange Man Bad, could you?

The same gubmint schools which taught us all about the carb-heavy "food pyramid", that helped cause the obesity?

The HFC and seed oils are everywhere....Greatly supported by corporate farming subsidies...There's "free" money in all that fat...You really think that the same gubmint that caused all this is going to get us out of it?
Good points. We’ve obviously seen a failure by our state and federal governments in addressing these issues.

I don’t have the golden answer to the obesity issue. But it is a problem and we can all hope that it gets addressed. Well, it’s not just an obesity issue, but in some cases folks who are very much underweight. Maybe they are using drugs all the time and not eating properly.

We are currently spending a ton of money on medical costs for issues related to obesity. It’s only going to get worse until something is done about it.

The average American male could benchpress more in 1990 compared to today. That was shown on the PBD podcast.

Anyway this issue seems to be not discussed quite a bit in the political atmosphere. It’s all about Israel Palestine, Russia Ukraine, and “white supremacy”. We are being distracted with issues that are not as important as the health of our society.

We can throw in the drug issue. 100,000 Americans dying each year from fentanyl illegally brought over the border. It’s a crisis on two fronts one the border is a problem. It’s not secure. Two and probably more bigger What is driving the young American man to shoot up heroin, smoke meth or take fentanyl. Clearly they are mentally depressed. And they have been forgotten about by Hollywood and media.

Life expectancy is 7 years longer in the US than Cambodia. I guess all that salt helps preserve us.

Bet you never said that about Hillary with her wide hips and dumpy bottom

And the government should check companies, who manufacture high sugary foods who are advertising to children. That is tactic of course of the big cookie companies. They are advertising to children. Because they know if they get them addicted at a young age, they will just keep eating that garbage food for the rest of their life. This is similar to the cigarette companies.

When you’re talking about adults OK that’s one thing. But when we talk about a 10-year-old boy in the city of Chicago, who has all sorts of negative influences from the media from Hollywood and now he turns on the television and see some cartoon about how delicious Oreo cookies are, something like the little Debbie snacks you name it. But that ain’t right.

And furthermore go to the grocery store take a look at the price of protein bars compared to candy bars. Candy bars cost less money. Take a look at the price of a fresh apple compared to some frozen TV dinner you’re going to spend more money on fresh vegetables and fresh food compared to some TV dinner packed with sodium.
You do realize that out of all the industrial and modern countries in the world, America allows the most toxins in their foods, right?

For instance McDonald's, KFC, Burger King, et al, are more healthier abroad.

You're aware of this fact, right?

Yes Marc....

Big Bro's the Consumer Product Safety Commission, Food and Drug Administration, and Department of Agriculture aren't here to protect consumers, they exist to protect the big players from the consumers

Yeah. The government causes you to eat fast food.
The US government subsidies corporations making products that kill it’s people. You find nothing wrong with this?
