Americans are understandably suffering from hard economic times due to massive inflation, inflation that has many causes, one of which is massive government spending

Their answer? They want another stimulus. That's right, over 60% of Americans want more massive spending.

The government education system has purposefully created a society of retards doomed to a bleak future.

Ain't democracy grand?

And with both parties recently agreeing to more massive spending of trillions of dollars for such things as funding pregnant transgender woke Ukrainian men righting Russians and climate change whose pronoun of choice have yet to be determined, the wish that their own government will spend another dime on them ever again seems a bit of a stretch.

I've said that ultimately our nation will be okay. And for some reason, my belief in the resilience and capacity for adaptation and growth of America and her people.......offends you. And triggers conservatives like little I've seen in recent memory.

Yeah, MAYBE it wasn't governments attempt, but they DESTROYED many small businesses and gave a huge gift to online retailers. I think they knew what they were doing, and it was EVIL

It was all ridiculous theater. I had no need of the $3000, donated the first check to the food bank and didn't even activate the second and third cards. And that amount did NOTHING for the many businesses in my town that closed down for months or forever.

Theater of the absurd.

For what? To plunge the entire country into unpayable debt for generations.

What those stimulus checks did IMHO is create a sense of entitlement. The gov't is going to financially bail us out of whatever trouble arises, so don't worry about it. Almost 100 years ago during the Great Depression, people lost their homes and businesses and the common theme of the day became to live within your means and avoid debt. But not anymore, now it's live for today and spend what you ain't got cuz somebody else will end up paying for it. There is a reduced sense of responsibility for one's own actions and decisions, cultivated over recent decades and creating in the younger generations a misplaced dependence on gov't. And frankly I am not hopeful of an attitudinal change until an economic disaster hits like the Great Depression did, and maybe not even then. Or not for a long time, until we've exhausted every other option except fiscal responsibility.

So, is America done? I see a catastrophic shitstorm coming that will take a very long time to recover from. Maybe not for 20-30 years or whatever, but it's coming. I hope that future generations will realize that America has to return to the principles that made us great in the 1st place, minus the flaws of racism and discrimination. Is that possible? Yeah, but how likely? Don't know, we are already heading in the direction of a one-party totalitarian state, and those at the top will not go quietly into that good night. I do not see external help coming from outside the US, like the French fleet did sailing up the Potomac to give us victory at Yorktown and our independence. This time it'll have to be internal I think, and I know of no instance in history where a socialistic gov't was overthrown and the country returned to become a true constitutional republic. Do not count on our elections to save the day, once mail-in ballots are the law of the land everywhere, this country will become no better than a banana republic where the election winners are determined before the 1st vote is cast. Not saying that is the case now, but I think it will be at some point if it isn't already. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.
