I agree that the things Truman identifies are not Socialism.

Socialism is the means of production being exclusively owned by government.

Public power is not even a real thing. Public delivery means may be real, but that's to maximize the use of land. Same with public roads.

But, it's hard for me to take seriously and appreciate ANYTHING written or stated by the ONLY head of government in the WORLD, past and present, to use nuclear weapons on another nation.

I'm all for the competitive Free Market where this works ... any moderately sized community can support 8 gas stations, 4 grocery stores, 20 restaurants ... absolutely let them fight over customers, the customer wins, either with lower prices or a better product, let the customer decide ...

But we do need to be honest with ourselves when competitive Free Market doesn't work ... and retail electric distribution is the perfect example ... do we want 3 companies competing for our business, three sets of utility poles, three sets of overhead wires, three sets of transformers scattered though our neighborhoods, three drops to your home? ... most of us grant monopoly power over the system to a single company and regulate the hell out of them ... but some do establish this distribution as a government agency, where the board members are subject to the voters ...

I know there are other publicly traded companies on the government teet, but I am not aware of any corp welfare for Whole Foods.

The government is propping up the entire thing but you know that.

Whole Foods does get city, state, and federal incentives to open their stores. $4.2 million for the store they opened in Detroit.

We could solve most of our simple capital related problems with equal protection of the laws for unemployment compensation in our at-will employment States. Since Labor should be able to obtain UC for simply being unemployed in our at-will employment States, Labor should be able to participate in that market sector more economically.
