College students chasing someone across the quad or shouting at a city council meeting somewhere is beside the point. This was the candidate for Vice President, admitting openly that he was making up stories to get people to listen. It would be tough to come up with a more emphatic way to tell the people "We are lying" short of grabbing the camera and shouting it into the lens.
