Who Won The Government Shut Down?

A third old fogey is leaving Congress, maybe - just maybe - the Dems are starting to get it that 80+ year olds who can barely form a sentence shouldn't be leading anything.

Trump's shutdown cost US an extra $1 Trillion per Day!!!!! Trump Lost!
You poor, deluded carnival barker! Calling it a "Trump Shutdown" does not MAKE it a Trump shutdown--- the president has no say in how Congress votes. Not only will all of this be long-since glazed over by the midterms, but if America lost a trillion dollars a day, you can be sure the real cause of the shutdown will not remain in dispute for very long.

Democrats won last weeks election
They only won in very blue districts where they were /expected/ to win. Had they not won, it would have been a killer for the DNC, and at that, democrats have again chased off yet more big donators and candidates, looks like Fetterman will be next.

& got the government to reopen & stop wasting billion on Trump's political shutdown stunt.
Blah, blah, blah blah blah.

Republicans also controlled all three branches of the federal government along with SCOTUS, so it's hard to see how a shutdown materialized without their support (or indifference):
The vote was 52R/2D/1I to open the gov't and 45D to shut it down FOURTEEN TIMES. No amount of denial will ever cover that FACT. POTUS and SCOTUS have no vote so that part of your deflection is irrelevant. Take off the partisan blinders.
LOL, and ChatGPT is not a source and neither is their irrelevant poll. Facts are facts and partisan polls are BS.

"The current U.S. federal government shutdown is largely attributed to the Republican Party in Congress. For example:

  • "A recent poll found that 46 % of independents blame Republicans for the shutdown, compared to 23 % blaming Democrats. The Washington Post+2ABC News+2
  • Another poll showed 38 % of U.S. adults said Republicans would be mostly to blame, 27 % said Democrats, and 31 % said both. PBS+1
  • The legislative history shows that the Republican-led House passed a “continuing resolution” (stopgap funding bill) that failed in the Senate, and the shutdown began once funding expired. Reuters+2CBS News+2

"That said, the Democratic Party also bears some responsibility: some of their votes and strategic decisions contributed to the impasse. For instance, Democrats rejected certain funding measures they deemed unacceptable. PBS+2Reuters+2

"So in short: the Republicans are seen as primarily responsible, though the situation involves both parties."
That narrative has always been a lie. If you don't have 60 votes in the Senate, then you don't have control of the Senate.

Time to vote. Let's see what everyone thinks. Maybe everyone will be in agreement.
The American people lost. The forces trying to tear the country apart, our enemies both foreign and domestic, won.

I don't think I or more importantly, elected republicans, will ever let the anti American democrats EVER forget what they've done. What did the Japanese say after Pearl Harbor? We have awakened a sleeping giant.
We are in this position in our nation because Republicans let Democrats run roughshod in politics. They in many areas have control over our children. And even in areas not affected have to aide y many rules from Progressive edicts. The people in Prog states that are in Republican counties live in constant encroachment from pure radicalism. Powerful Progressives in Manhattan which is Capitalistic rules the state of New York.

The Dem's who caved in to pressure think they got a meaningful concession.

Instead, the agreement includes a guarantee from Republican leadership that the Senate will vote on a health care bill drafted by Democrats before the second week of December.

“That is a big step, because otherwise there’s no way for the minority to get a bill onto the floor of the U.S. Senate,” Sen. Angus King of Maine, an independent who caucuses with the Democrats, said Sunday night after helping to broker the deal.

Wrong. If they think R's are interested in passing legislation that helps Americans afford healthcare they are naive. If there's a vote at all.

Perhaps what we'll get is a litany of broken promises from His Orangeness on a replacement plan for the ACA that never comes. Like R's have been promising for years.

When it comes, your democrats will have to pass it to see what's in it---sound familiar? The projection game has run its course, get some new material.

And those votes you mention posed what threat to the healthcare of Americans who are not billionaires?

1/2 the States seem completely lost to DEM control forever. No decent candidate will even try to win any vote on the West Coast, NE Coast or Great Lakes Midwest states. Then they proceed to destroy generations of Children, Black and Brown citizens. The media or the Dirty rotten Criminal DEMSTAIN will tear them apart using the Courts and the media. Who wants to sign up for that?

They voted to keep the gov't open to FACILITATE NEGOTIATIONS (that weren't done during the shutdown because of democrat obstruction). Negotiations don't happen when people are held hostage to petulant temper tantrums. Keep twisting yourself up in a pretzel--no amount of denial will ever confuse the facts that the globalist democrats used benefits for illegals as a reason to hold the citizenry hostage.

Not exactly:

"Here’s what happened:

  • "In late September 2025, a faction of House Republicans—mostly moderates—backed a short-term continuing resolution (CR) to keep the government open while negotiations continued on broader spending issues. However, the proposal did not include specific provisions about health care benefits.
  • The measure was blocked after opposition from the party’s hard-right members, who wanted steeper spending cuts and policy riders on immigration and energy rather than expanded talks on health care.
  • Democrats largely opposed the CR as well, saying it failed to protect key domestic programs including Medicaid and Affordable Care Act subsidies."

Republicans hold a 53-47 seat margin over Democrats which means they hold leadership positions including Senate Majority Leader, chair of all committees, and largely control the legislative agenda and floor schedule.

IN OTHER WORDS: Republicans control the Senate, House, White House, and SCOTUS.

When it takes 60 votes to pass and you have a majority of 53--that is not control. Hate to break it to you, Poindexter.

Doesn't look like anyone won. The GOP lost the politics of it in a big way. And the democrats are left trusting a promise from the least trustworthy people in America that they will get a vote on ACA credits in December.

Don't worry Dems, maybe Trump will give you a participation trophy. :itsok:
