That Crimea was part of Ukraine is not a question. It is a fact. To claim otherwise is simply ignoring reality. Russia did not annex that part of Ukraine because they wanted them to, they did it because there is a major military port there that has strategic importance and the US was making inroads in influencing their government to becomes closer to the west.

Nowhere was the Crimean people ever even considered in that interaction.
