Government can be, much more democratic than private vested interests. At least our American government holds elections, when was the last time you or I voted to elect our managers in the workplace? Never, right? That doesn't happen. I would rather have a government that holds elections and respects my human rights, be my employer, than a private business enterprise that holds no elections and can fire me at any time, for no reason. I'll take my democratic government, as my employer, any day over a capitalist, only concerned with his "bottom line" (private profits).

My children go to private, Christian school. I also have relatives kids who go to public schools. There is no comparison to the overall morality. Keep in mind, we are in the South, not in the NE where many parents only send their kids there for the better education, not the religion. We have actualy noticed this phenonmenon in our kid’s school with liberals moving down from the NE. They are smart enough to realize that the school is safer and better than public schools, but not smart enough to realize why that is the case. They even bring some of their left-wing policitics into the school. Again, they aren’t wise enough to realize that it is how they vote that is the problem with public schools.

I wouldn't know since I have lived my entire life in the South and all the schools I went to and my kids were public and we still had Christan overtones and my kids learned well and are ok in life. You also MUST remember that Europe of the age of Marx was nothing like the USA. Not then and certainly not now.

Marx grew up when the excesses of the French Revolution were still living memory for most of Europe. People were looking for a way to live. The British example didn't appeal to them. It was still based on Manorialism/Feudalism and it bore too close a resemblance to what the French Revolution (The greatest upheaval in Human History) rose up against.

American Capitalism had yet to be proven out and besides, nobody in Europe took American seriously at that time. We were still 'The Colonies' to them.

The worth of those political/social concepts is in the degree they are employed, regardless of their national, self-proclamation. Two good Examples: (1) The US claims to be the “leader of the free world” by Democratic means. That is utter bullshit. (2)The official name of North Korea is "the Democratic People's Republic of Korea". More bull shit. Are there elements of Democracy in both the US and North Korea? Yes. But do they differ in the degree Democracy is employed? Greatly. The International Democracy Index rates the US approx 25th. in the world. Hardly a "leader". So, let us take a look at it from a practical observation point. Can a nation that lies about Weapons of Mass Destruction, fabricates false "proof" of it, sends in CIA spies to plant false evidence, illegally invades (by United Nations own rules), tortures (thereby committing crimes against humanity also by United Nations own rules), and murders one million innocent (by the mere fact that there no WMD's) men, women and children and still claim they've introduced Democracy into the nation they’ve illegally invaded? The answer is "no". Or should we take the word of self-proclaiming US and redefine the term Democracy and say "yes"?
